I only hope its not "after the elections". That was the running joke about pay raises when I was with the City. That was the same as "two weeks" with SYK.
I am so impressed with my DF, I will not fail to get whatever comes out from the scrap yard next, whenever that may be.

Haha, Ted. Problem is, whadya gonna do if the WEEK TWO option comes and goes without the announcement? You can only vote once, you know. Or, of course, you could always run a new poll every two weeks until the new model IS announced. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
Well, due to the Busse space time continuum principle, TWO WEEKS or WEEK TWO, are very flexible measures of time and seem to be self correcting, so no further effort on my part would be needed.

Vic I am 100% with you on that my friend! I have said it before and I will say it till I'm blue in the face. This IS your chance to get in on the ground floor of something really big! The offerings are always priced so that anyone who works and earns money can afford one if they want it bad enough. Their quality and rate of release makes a exclusivity that adds to the down the road value of all Scrap Yard knives.If you ever wanted to start a knife collection to pass down and be proud of this is it! Hands down. My children already point out their favorites. I'm 50 and not going anywhere for a long time! They appreciate the blades just like we all do. And I too will buy every knife as it comes out and keep my collection strong. It will be a source of pride and dedication for me. It is a good thing to do. I am so glad that this company is just starting so I can keep up with them. Vic let's keep buying every knife they make, and leave them for our kids to remember us by.

Bruce - I understand your concerns, as I have mixed feelings as well. I love my SS4, and I'm sure Dan was pleased that it was a resounding success. I just don't want the Scrap Yard to go the way of Swamp Rat, starting out with great knives at great prices, and then the downhill slide to more special runs and higher prices. I guess I'm just not a good enough collector to appreciate that approach. When I voiced my concerns at the Swamp I was battered by comments that were less than friendly. That is why I was so happy when Scrap Yard was announced, and I have been so happy with them. As a retired rancher I don't have an unlimited supply of funds, and Dan's approach to the highest value for dollar spent is right up my alley. I have tremendous faith in Dan and Patti, and hope that never changes. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> Tom

To have the right knife for the job you have to be a collector! I have a SS4, S6 and DF on it's way, plus a machete, Wilkinson Sword CSK II and some other crap mainstream knives and about 5 or 6 multi tools. That way you have a good tool for any job! I figure my minimum carry would be the SS4, then S6 and if I was really going somewhere wild the DF and SS4 (in each occasion add a folding saw and a Gerber tool!). It's nice to have options! We are lucky to have the yard!

Vic, Bear seems to carry a cheap and nasty divers knife which he knocks absolute hell out of (batoning with a rock?!!) still it hasn't broken so far.. While I'm certainly not ex SAS unlike Bear, I'd prefer something a little bigger and more choppy, like say a S6! Ooo, handy theres one now! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I hope Dan throws Lots of different steels at us! Infi, SR-77, SR-101, and more! I hope he experiments, mixes it up, then we can vote with our wallets.. or discuss here 1st, thru polls, etc.
I see where you're coming from bld, but you must admit.. ~$139 was a Hell of a price for Infi! If Dan makes it (no matter the steel!) it'd be made the "no frills" (or lower frills) ScrapYard way.. it Would BE affordable compared to what's out there! ..and be able to go toe-to-toe against the higher end stuff!
I'd like to see Swords & Bigger stuff from ScrapYard also! I'd buy a ScrapYard Sword in a heartbeat.. because I *know* I'd have to spend 2-3x the $ or more to get this performance Anywhere else!
I wouldn't mind seeing "Pricier" stuff from Dan.. cuz i *know* it'd be Great stuff, and it would Kick even MORE butt than the competitors!

I saw a post by someone on BF that described himself as an "acquirer". I think that describes me. Most collectors to seem to have a plan. I don't. If I see a knife I really really like and can afford, I generally just buy it. I have a few customs and a random bunch of production knives. I'm sure there will be a couple knives that never get used that I like just because they look cool. I have purchased a couple knives that I thought would be users but upon receiving them decided they were so nice that I wasn't going to be the first user. Some of these will end up being gifts for family members or others. Some may eventually see hard use. I don't stress about it. At a minimum it's a fun hobby, at its best it's a fun hobby *and* I find some neat tools I discover I just can't live without. It's all good fellas!

I understand your point about INFI but when I got my hands on the scrap pile I just could not help myself.
My focus will always be the best performance for the lowest possible price

Makes perfect sense to me too. That way he can:
a) Have some fun messing with the Yard
b) Tell Patti he waited until the anniversary of his proposal to her to launch the new blade
c) Name it something meaningful as a commemorative.
