Any interest in a little club...?

Sort of a group within the group. We have a group for people who have a thousand posts or more, what about a club for people who actually use their knives? To get in, you have to demonstrate a SYKCO knife that has been shown a good time in a mud pit, swamp, mine shaft, scrapyard, demolition project, etc etc. If not beat within an inch of its life, your knife has to actually show some wear and usage.

Safe queens need not apply.

Call it the Filthy Mutts club perhaps?

Or the Dirty Dawgs club? Sounds cool. Good idea!

But what if I use my knife but do not ab-use it? I mean isn't it possible to use such a tough knife without actually causing physical symptoms to appear in it's lovely facade?

I hate to raise a point or order before the club actually forms but do I have to deface my S5LE so soon?

Nervous,

Mick

The point is to show working knives, and to exalt the remarkable ability of these things to just keep going. Scrapyard knives do not come into existence expecting an easy life!

Besides, any knife in use will show signs of use. Though it will take longer to accrue a worthy set of scars if treated like a more ordinary knife.

The Dirty Dawgs sounds great but wouldn't it be a more exclusive club if it only accepted members who never use their knives?

you can't do very much chopping without wearing the coating off. It should be pretty easy to get in.
I love the idea of a group that pays respect to knives with a lot of use. These things weren't made to be pretty.

This is probably my most hard user out of all the knives that I have. It's been thru hell and back. I think I tried to cut anything you can think of with it. It has all kinds of nicks, scratches, you name it.

Yes I am all for this...I only own one SY knife...my DFLE but it gets used as do most of my knives...

Whether it is for preping a fire...

[Linked Image from i343.photobucket.com]

or just doing some chopping and testing...but the Satin blades don't tend to show wear quite the same as the coated blades...and you can "Spa" satin blades much easier to...that's why I like them...

Vic's post would be death chat long. I can't match that but I do have pics:

Problem is the DDF showed almost no wear after tearing through that mesquite.
Not really a problem actually.

The blade that has been through the most can't be shown yet, but you can bet I've got some pics that'll pop up later.
