Special Offer Criteria For Free Commemrative Patch

As a token of my appreciation and a way to commemorate the achievement of 300,000+ posts on our forum in our first three years as a company. I am offering a limited edition patch to those Dogs that qualify.

The following is the criteria and rules associated with this offer:

1. Any Dog that has achieved Junk Yard Dog status automatically qualifies. The only requirement is to send Patti an e-mail that includes your Forum Name, Real Name and Shipping Address. Patti@scrapyardknives.com

2. Dogs who have more than 3,000 posts will receive the Gold Level Patch. This is a very special edition of the Commemorative Dog Patch. This is my way of recognizing those Junk Yard Dogs that have really made this forum a very special place. For those JYD’s who want to make a run for the Gold...go for it, but you only have until December 15th.
You will need to decide which patch you want since it will still be limited to one patch per Dog. Those Dogs that run for the Gold will need to e-mail Patti once they achieve the Gold Level by December 15th. Include your Forum Name, Real Name and shipping address. Example: JYD #199 has 2,830 posts as of today…they decide that they are going for the Gold patch. They will need to post 171 times between Oct 23rd and December 15th to receive the exclusive Gold Patch. Should they not make it to Gold they just send Patti an e-mail with Forum Name, Real Name and shipping address to receive the regular limited edition patch. Patti@scrapyardknives.com

3. If you have less than 1,000 posts, you will need to post 30 times between now (October 23rd) and December 15th. In other words you have 54 days to make 30 posts on the ScrapYard Forum. Additional requirements:
- Each post must be made up of at least 5 words or more and form a complete thought…no “+1, +1, +1, +1, +1 and or symbols like 5 thumbs-up or smiley faces. A picture without 5 words does not count as a post for this criteria.
- Posts made to the JYD Death Chat III thread will not count towards this criterion. Posts must be made to an active thread or newly posted thread and engage the subject at hand.
- You will need to send Patti an e-mail that includes your Forum Name, Real Name and shipping address once you achieve the 30 post criteria. Patti@scrapyardknives.com

Please note; I will not blindly send anyone a patch. We must receive an e-mail requesting one before midnight eastern standard time on December 15th. A review will be done to determine if the individual has met the criteria. Please do not create an alternate user name in an attempt to get more than one patch; this is against forum rules.

If you do not include your forum name, real name and or address in your email we will be unable to send you a patch. We are not staffed to chase down your information. To be clear, this is a personal gesture of thanks and we reserve the final decision as to who gets a patch.

The patch is oval in shape and measures 2.75” x 3.25” and has a glue back allowing for ironing on.

Unless I am all wet, the patches look photo quality. Probably that is just because it isn't a picture of an actual patch, but the work up copy (did I say that right?). Ok, this is my second post and it's numbered 256. That means I started out the Quest with post number 254.

In the original Special Offer Survey thread, I talked about the difference between post quality and post quantity. Quality—a thoughtful post addressing the issue at hand. Quantity—any post at all, no matter how trivial, that will get someone closer to JYD status. I concluded that there was no practical way to address the quality issue and the only way to go was by counting the number of posts.

Dan, you seem to have found a way around that. Congratulations!

I am so stoked about the patch. Thing is do I want it attached to my hat, a shooting bag, get a special knife bag made, etc? I think I will use the glue system to attach a piece of velcro so I can move it from item to item.

Either going to glue or sew a piece of velcro on the back and then put it on different things like a hat, jacket, and a shooting bag!

I've been using the velcro idea for a while now and use velcro to stick patches on my range bag so, I think I'll do the same with Dan's patch...actually, depending on the size of this patch, the rifle case may be the spot!

I like the sewn-on velcro idea myself. I also have a "Hog" and "Infidel" patch that could be worn that way! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> However, I don't have any kind of patch for the Swamp. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

I am not and was not trying to buy one. I will continue to post and will certainly achieve the 30 required. I am just saying that I have taken more than I have given from this forum over the past year and was wondering if there was some way to help this forum monetarily as a token of my appreciation.

After 30 posts over a couple of months I am still not convinced that I will deserve one. However they are too cool. I am certainly enjoying the one SY knife that I now own and hope to become more involved in this forum as I am more knowledgeable

I couldn't have said it better myself. I have 6 dog's, a moss green dogfather, desert tan yard keeper, yard hook, scrapper 5 LE, dumpster mutt LE, and test team bowie. The only two I ordered directly from scrap yard are the s5 le and the bowie.

I didn't think you were trying to buy one, just asking a question like most of us here. This patch IS something special, but as the world goes (into the sink hole), some will probably wind up for sale, unfortunately. I'll probably put mine on my desert camo boonie hat (if it'll fit).

Yes, I was determined, excited, and having fun! Swamp Rat was the first forum I ever joined, and as I was pretty new to computers and the internet I just didn't really get into it. Then Dan started Scrap Yard, and I found a home! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I have really enjoyed carrying on discussions with fellow Dogs - sometimes on the phone as well. I look forward to the Blade show in Atlanta as the chance to meet so many fellow Dogs, and of course the Busse crews. I remrmber when I first got back from Japan (1991) I had a computer built. I had a FEW bulletin boards I went to, Even had my own for a little while. Thought it was really neat, I had Lotus Organizer to call the bbs for me and then logged on, OH GLORY DAY (hope they never come back)!

I totally agree with you CBC. Since this forum was started we have had very few real problems. Usually a "suggestion" is enough to get us back on the right course, and I can tell you that we Moderators genuinely appreciate that fact. It's really nice to go on a forum without a lot of fighting, etc., and instead foster a sense of Brotherhood and willingness to help each other. By the way, over this weekend I was off to some hunting property to set up for deer season in another week. I went into the local small town pizza hut and two different people asked me if it was a zombie hunting hat and what was ScrapYard all about. Thanks...Now the good news;

The patches finally arrived. The vendor had to put a trace on what happened to our shipment, They left 2 weeks ago (2 day delivery) and they never arrived, I instantly suspected a Hog or a Rat...but no, it was someone who did not do their job or actually did it badly.

Anyway they found them and re-routed them to us. The black & white patches showed up today and the Gold are expected tomorrow.

We will begin mailing these out over the next week for the Dogs that have sent their information to Patti and have been validated against the criteria

Don't forget you still have 33 days left to get your 30 posts in and or get to the golden 3000 number

Perhaps I am a bit nuts, but I just ordered a pack with velcro that I hope will be worthy of the patch. It needs a proud place.

I will have to stick with the plain one,
much too much going on here to even get close to 3000.
