Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:37 AM

Alright guys... Lets circle the wagons here, get a good chat going... No need to own the page tonight boys - tonight we're gonna be F5ing like crazy for the mini-release. Some Military Dog Chow.

No fake "Go's" - I don't think that it'd be in the spirit of the Yard tonight. Maybe on a regular release, but not on a night when we need to send out emails, and a false email could cost someone some steel. If I'm way off base on that, let me know.

Bring it on in guys - everyone excited or what!?!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:38 AM

And hit up the New Dogs thread - there's a New Dog in there. Come on guys... I've posted that like three times now

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:38 AM

Gotta play fair and clean.

No biting and no eye gouging!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:39 AM

Thats right - if you bite someone's ear off tonight, you're getting your face tattooed!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:43 AM

i have a draft for sharking himalayan imports on the HI forum, pretty much identical. in this case you don't even have to wait and copy what you want in the email since you know what you want, just click send if it's there.

you better hope you don't have to compete with too many experienced sharks.

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:43 AM

Just to channel your previous question to this thread Cold One - I DO believe that there will still be another release of S6's coming, after the new model. If anyone has any info contrary to this, please let us know!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 02:44 AM

Is "Sharking" the fake "go" thing?

Everyone please read my 2nd post in this thread, I'm really trying to make an effort to ensure that we're more welcoming

Make yourself known if you're gonna get in on the sale, ya know!!!

Pound Puppy is MUCH more respectable that SHARK.

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 05:14 AM

I had the day off today and a friend and I went into the woods. I choped a 3 inch tree down and chopped it into two to make walking sticks. I picked up the top portion to cut the branches off and before I was going to shave the bark off I checked the blade. A small section of the edge actually split off and the section that remained became jagged. The best that O could describe it was like slate rock when it splits. The part that came off took a small chip of coating with it.

I photographed the before shots and after. I didn't even get to using the baton. There were no rocks around and the only thing that I chopped was the wood. My friend was amazed as he saw me beat the crap out of my Scrapper 6 both chopping and batoning. He was amazed and all he said was that happend with wood.

What should I do with the DF? I love it and I know from years of using Busse that this must be the lemon of the bunch as everything, including your Scrapper is as tough as nails. Plus the fact that my was inspected by inspector 13.. Must be bad luck.

This method of ordering is difficult. I wish we could just order off an order form or something, like the regular dealers do.

Oh yeah, it was sent. I have no doubts that it wass only a fault and am still a loyal dog! My Scrapper has had the crap kicked out of it. Unfortunately this is something that event sharpening won't fix. If I were to do that it would shave the thin section off and would look like a chip in the blade.

I must say that it did eat the tree! Great chopper!!

I have no doubts. There knives are great! There will always be one or two in the batch... I just got lucky. LOL! No problems. I don't want them to take this post the wrong way. And any newbies out there reading this should know that no matter what..... THESE KNIVES ROCK!!!!

I actually thought about finishing the sticks, however I sheathed it and went on.

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack. Carry on.

Again, these knives rock! The people who make them are the best. And the newbies should not get discourged by stuff like this as this is a one in million thing.

EVERY Busse (family) knife that I have owned is perfect!! So goes life. This is a great company, with a great product!

Sometimes, in rare cases, the steel can have a small air bubble or non-homogenous seam. Normally this is inconsequential. However, if this occurs along the edge, a chip will occurr as you describe.

No worries since ScrapYard offers the best warranty in the business. Please e-mail Patti and she will give you directions on returning your blade.

Dan, No worries! Your stuff is still the best. I have owned many knives and like all of us around the yard I know that these things happen. Hey it's a tool and sometimes there will be a defect no matter how hard on tries. We ar enot perfect BUT Scrap Yard Knives are about as close as perfection can get!!!

You and your brother have a life customer!!!!!! I will endorse your stuff..... I got the Ranger the same day that I got the RTAK, and its been madness since then!

Ranger has come a long way. I have one of their first knives and a friend ordered a custom, mirror polished version. Both RD9's. I have been to his site recently but where are the options for the knives? Everyone is getting different colored handles.

Glad to hear that things are going well brother. You're truly a good guy - maybe that has something to do with it!!!!! You're one of a kind my friend.

Website is way out of date. Go to the KnifeForums Ranger forum.

Here's my new RD4. The twin RD9 Recurve is being made as we speak:

I love Sam Adams. Guinness is also a great beer. I have some of my Kenyan beer, Tusker on hold only for a special occasion. I order a case when I can.

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 06:32 AM

Another Montana beer - "Double Haul" - is made about a block from my house. Just tried one last night - in a CAN - and it was AWESOME!!!

Got a fly fisherman on the front of it...

My "neighbor" (in the same house - practically a roommate) is a firefighter, and does a whole lot of fly fishing in the off season - he had me try one last night - absolutely fantastic! Then he tried explaining what a "double haul" is, and I got confused...

Yeah... and the price was AWESOME too. I wanna say... $125? (granted it was like my 3rd blade from him in a month) - and it is truly a 1 of a kind custom!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 06:38 AM

A friend of mine got me into flyfishing last year. I have been doing it on and off.

We have several micro brewpubs around our house. They all have the growlers and mug clubs. Some have crappy food, but all have great beer.

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/17/07 06:39 AM

And the beer is all that matters!!! If I want some great food, I'll have some good wine - but if I want some good beer, just gimme a greasy burger!!

Re: Ganza Night Discussion - 03/19/07 09:41 AM

The log was shot at from about 25 or 30 yards away. I was shooting end on into it as previous testing showed no point in hitting the side as even significantly lighter loads breezed through!

The recovered slug lost about 10% of its weight! Was still a big chunk of lead!

Mad Dog brings back memories. One of the guys in the dorm drank a whole bottle. He was running around howling.. He got real mean and was throwing butter knives everywhere. Funny thing was this guy never got drunk (or at least around us) and was more quiet than a church mouse.

Yes! It was a cheeseburger I made. A half pound burger. I took a pound of beef and added an egg some flower salt and pepper and some Worcestershire sauce. Then I molded the beef into two patties (one for me and one for my bro). then I grilled em while he fried some bacon and sauté some mushrooms and onions. then I add a generous slice of cheddar cheese to each burger while it's on the grill so it can melt. And now for the construction. Two slices of twelve grain bread with mayonnaise, mustard and guacamole. Next comes the burger. Six pieces of bacon on top of that followed by a large amount of sauté onions and mushrooms. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!!! Best meal I've ever had. I kept looking around for someone with an electric chair or a lethal injection. It was just that good.
