I think it's best for Dan's sales to release on Friday so folks have the whole weekend to buy. The complication is I don't think they'll last 12 hours.

I don't believe he's released a knife on a Friday or a weekend yet. The DF was released on a Wednesday and the second release of the SS4 occurred on a weekday too IIRC.

I'm working on the assumption that they won't last 12 minutes!

Re: Poll: Release Date for the New Model - 03/23/07 07:18 PM

As I am not Karnack the Seer, this is just a guess. I voted for April 2. Here is my scientific "logic": April 1 is the Festival of Fools, ruled over by the Norse trickster God, Loki. So even if it was released on April 1, it would be a trick. April 2 is the first day of Passover. Those who do not order on this day will be passed over. Also, April 2 is a full moon. A night when the dogs like to howl.

Re: Poll: Release Date for the New Model - 03/23/07 08:50 PM

I have found that so long as you are ready when Dan puts the knives out you should have no problem getting one. The second run of the SS4 was an extreme case as the hype was insane and there were only a few left. I am really looking forward to the DM as it is my favorite type of knife and I had been after Dan to make a inexpensive fighter. I am considering a Spec ops navigator sheath because I have been impressed with the DF sheath. I begged so hard for a knife like this it should be called an Unsub Mutt.

Busse's EDC Milganzaaaa is *this* Sunday night right?

Any word on pricing $$ yet?
last i heard was Jerry saying:
"Killer pricing will make this Ganzaaa . . . a blood bath, the likes of which have yet to be seen by man or HOG!!!"

oh man.. it's a flood alright..

Re: April Fools' Day of course! - 03/24/07 08:36 AM

Remember....it is still a Busse...69.95 prices we will not see.....a killer price for a Busse is in the 200s....so that would limit me to 1...maybe 2 (I really want a meaner!) Then the DM.....hell I am sure you can pick up 3 for the price of 1 of the others...so I have to raise some capitol...VERY soon!

Oh definitely!
I was checking out some 2004 prices of Meaner Street & Active Duty on http://homepage.mac.com/zombiekiller/badmojo

Meaner Street, $227 (.220" thick, '04 specs)
Leaner Street, $197 (.150" thick)
Active Duty, $187

Oh man.. wish i had a time machine.
For the EDC Miliganzaaaa however, i can't see them being lower than any game warden.

bld522,

..I believe that Dan will wait a day or two for things to settle down from the Milganzaa before he makes his move..
Oh for sure!
With steel coming from all 3 Busse family companies.. I've noticed knives actually being In Stock! crazy huh?
Did you SEE the Game Wardens just floating around for Days over at BCS??
Unheard of man! Some neat color combos too! (black tiger, sage, leprechaun)
i actually had ALL 3 in my cart (not all at once)! didn't pull the trigger on any.. knife MOney is Real short this month!

Being a Student,

Cost is a major factor guys, I would love to drive Merc or a Porsche 911 997 Turbo... but I'm not in that stage of my life where I could afford it so I'll be driving the best bang per buck car I could afford atm, which is a 98 Honda Civic Hatch(insert whatever you think might be a better alternative for cost/performance) for awhile.
Which is why I thank Dan & Patti for setting up such a great place and introducing me to high performance knives for extremely affordable prices!

Exactly, Bors. And while Busse, Randall and Chris Reeve products all have well-deserved reputations, so do nearly equivalent products from other manufacturers that cost a great deal less. Case in point? Scrap Yard vs. Busse.

We've discussed this in other threads, but the question remains. Other than those who test knives to reveal their ability to absorb punishment, who among us would ever take a Scrap Yard knife to its limits in normal use? The answer is, none of us would. And we all know it. As a result of destructive testing, we also know that a Scrap Yard knife has the ability to respond gracefully to practically ANYTHING we throw at it, anticipated or unanticipated. Other than in the remotest of circumstances, who among us would ever need to rely on more from a knife than a Scrap Yard knife is capable of delivering? The answer is, none of us would. And we all know it. So for those who purchase knives primarily to use them, why pay more for a knife than a Scrap Yard knife costs?

Quite true. I hope the need does not arise for anyone to need more from a SYK than it was designed for. The fact is that barring trading or selling our grand children are most likely to inherit them.
