Sorry dogs. - 11/13/10 12:43 PM

This isn't the Busse Combat forum.

Posting a pic like this with no commentary is trolling for a response. Have you contacted the Busse Shop yet? I checked with Jerry and the Busse Combat office and the answer was No! That should have been done first.

Jerry has always said that, "Given the proper tools, it does not take much to destroy a great knife. Given the internet, it does not take much to destroy a great reputation."

Posting a pic like that without an explanantion is not a joke and it's not "cute". It is nothing short of mean spirited to attack or to try and destroy someone's reputation.

If this is your knife, show a little respect to the folks who bust their butts making the finest bladeware in the world and give them a fair opportunity to defend themselves or to hear how the knife was damaged. This pic is being deleted until you have done so.

You owe Busse Combat and the members of this forum an apology for trolling, if not, you are gone!

Dan

Well [censored] look what I done did.
I do apologize to Dan & every member of these boards & everyone in the Busse Knife Group.
I have talked to Jerry & have apologized to him.He kindly & calmly explained the ramifications such a pic could have on his sales. He'll be getting the broken knife to analyze next week.I didn't contact Bussse Combat about a broken knife because I deliberately broke the knife & didn't expect it to be covered under the great Bussekin warranty.
It also didn't occur to me that Jerry would want to examine it.Now I know.
I posted the pic to build the anticipation until I had time to post all the other pics & my review.
No mean spritedness involved, just ignorance on my part about the impact such a pic could have on the sales of Busse Combat Knives.
I'm not a business man & don't think like one, just a simple working dog trying to show some pride in the yard & the great knives produced by Dan & the Scrap Yard Knife Company.

Again my sincerest apologies to everyone on these boards & at Busse Knife Group.

Long Live The Brotherhood Of The Yard!

Re: Sorry dogs. - 11/13/10 02:29 PM

Sorry but we can't let you off that easy...

For your lack of judgement all of your Busse Kin knives must be confiscated for 2 WEEKS!!!

I will PM you my shipping address and can just send them to me. You will get your knives back in

Seriously though... The Busse group maybe takes this stuff a little too close to heart but I was in sales for years so I understand where they are coming from. Its easy to do some long term damage on the net if you aren't careful. I wouldn't have gone so far as to label it trolling but that image itself could pop up for the rest of the Busse Combat history with no real clear explaination or maybe worse. Mall ninja bait!!! I think there was recently one that popper on the Busee forum (maybe why Dan went into "cop" mode.) But imagine some actual troll posting that pic on other knife forums making the claim that "Busse ain't so tuff" and rattling off to guys who have not yet made an informed conclusion. To be simple (we all are guilty at some point) one could easily be left with the impression that this brand of knife can break. Can you imagine if that was your first impression? I'm thankful it was not mine...

You know... I saw a picture of a particular firearm that blew up! It took me weeks of researching to find out they don't "just blow up" and that I wasn't at risk. The thread was up weeks before the details were mentioned. One of my best purchases almost got hijacked by that post and all I was trying to to make a educated purchase. And to point out the long term effects of such a post... I'm still talkin about it now!

Let us know the whole story when its all done. As a fan of Busse kin blades I always like to see one catch it . Kinda like seeing Super Man get whooped on a little bit. We know how the story ends but it's just not a good story without a lil bit of drama.

Re: Sorry dogs. - 11/13/10 10:51 PM

I just broke another "Survival" Knife today. I was reviewing the latest from our hero Bear Grylls on another forum and broke the pommel. There is some real junk out there nowadays. I realize that Scrappers don't have pommels, but if they did they wouldn't fly off while batoning the blade! I'd take a Scrapper 5 over most of the so-called survival knives. I have never deliberately broke a knife, but it happens. I learned the hard way not to post pictures of broken Busse-kin knives on this forum. I accidentally broke the tip off a little HCLE EDC knife doing something stupid with it. When I posted my review here, all hell broke loose. The new 154CM knives were coming out, and my pictures caused a lot of grief for the Busses. Those are tough knives, but you can break a thin point on any knife not using it properly, whether it is INFI, 154CM or any other steel. I have used the heck out of my Mud Puppy and some others with no mishaps, but any knife can be broken.

So I assume you were reviewing the newest BG knife that just came out? I had a feeling it would leave a lot to be desired... Just can't beat these Scrappers price & performance wise!

Someone sent me a link to this thread today.
http://www.scrapyardknives.com/ubbthread...&PHPSESSID=

I had seen this thread before,it's where I got the idea to pound my mud puppy into the steel pipe.
Dan clearly states to contact the shop before posting pics of broken knives.
I might have read that, but don't remember if I actually did though.
The only part that stuck in my mind was the awesome pic of the knife pounded into the pipe.
I sure as heck wouldn't have posted the pic if I'd have remembered Dan's request in a thread I read many months ago.

Dan,I am truly sorry.
