Texas Regulator by Rainwalker! - 11/14/10 03:33 PM

I finally got my Rainwalker in the mail last week.
It only took <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/2weeks.gif" alt="" /> but the wait was worth it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
First I asked Jeff to do a grimreaper,
but then I thought, nah lets go with the regulator theme.
I think after all the emails & tweeks it came out pretty darn good.

and what better companion to this regulator than a skeleton key?
I love how the key rides unobtrusively in it's slot on the front.

The fit & finish,I can finally see for myself, are outstanding.
Handmade american craftsmanship right there folks.

Man, talk about a well dressed outdoorsman. Accessories make the outit, they say. Great looking sheath! Too bad you can't wear one in Texas. I hear Bowies are illegal to carry there.

Jeff has a habit of exceeding anyone's expectations when making his art.

Unreal heirloom quality sheath there Myke!

Not only will you feel like a million bucks when you wear it... you will look like it too!

Having a custom sheath that NO ONE in the world but you have is really cool.

Well done Brother, great design, and brilliant execution.

Peace.

That sheath was one of those interesting projects that I really enjoy doing, although like anything these days, it always seems to take forever to get to. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> I'm really happy you like it, Myke. Thanks for your patience and for giving me the time needed to do the job right, it was a pleasure working with you on this. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the complements guys! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've been pretty impressed at how well the leather paint holds up. I made my mother in law a fancy tooled and painted leather keychain several years ago, and she carries in her purse and uses it every day and it still looks great. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Could you imagine (and I'm sure you can) the PITA it would be to put my Avatar on a sheath! It may be goofy lookin, but I like My Avatar, AND it goes with the name! Oh and don't worry, I'm not asking for somthing like that, just talking.

I reckon that I am about half Goofy and the other half has got to be Daffy! What a combo!

Randy, you're half right! Jeff, very nice work! I'm gonna have to bite the bullet and get one made for my SOD someday soon, and you're gonna get my business!

I want a rattlesnake inlay for my SOD, nothing too extravagant. But the downside is I'd be afraid to use it. Those are beautiful!

Your right, that would be some work... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> You might want to save that idea for a little bit bigger sheath someday! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> Anything's possible. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Rattlesnake is actually a pretty good choice for a user, the Rattler hide is pretty durable. I have a customer who has a full rattler wallet and said it held up well, so he had me make him a full Rattler GW sheath.

[Linked Image from i150.photobucket.com]

The Rattler on that sheath is laminated to regular leather to add to the thickness and overall integrity, I guess it's still working out well for him.

I actually prefer to use it as inlay though myself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
