Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 11:11 AM

Oh Man, I needs me one of those Regulators. Why Why Why do I have so much to do the next two days that I can't get up that early!

The blade is listed as 6 1/2 inches long, is that a typo?
Posted By: rth548

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 11:13 AM

No typo. Look at the blade shape, not as pointy as the normal regulators.

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 11:15 AM

That's what I thought. When you get mine let me know and I'll get the "check in the mail".

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 11:18 AM

could almost go for a regulator. if it was a LE or double cut I maybe could break down and go for it. sluts? nah... like the taz but in more of a mojo or m6 guy I think.

Wow i was really digging that Jungle Reg. Too bad i spent my money on a Mosin Nagant.

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 05:25 PM

Now THOSE are the Regulators that I need. I have a DF, but the Mil Reg was new and I wanted a new SY Blade.....

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 05:38 PM

That tan Taz looks pretty interesting too!

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 06:06 PM

I'll be trying for Taz Rats and MO Regulators -- the SLUTS are pretty nice, but aren't singing to me.
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 06:17 PM

The SLUTS are nice -- I handled them in Tulsa. However, I would buy a SAR-6 first if I was going to spend that much.
Now, back to bed for me!

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 06:37 PM

I just can't see paying over $300 for those pretty little steak knives, but to each his own. The Mil Overrun 6.5" Regulators are the best deals I see. As you would expect from Scrap Yard.

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 06:55 PM

I think the mil overrun 6.5" reg is calling my name too....

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 07:51 PM

My initial thought was "wow...that's it, was hoping for something a little more innovative". Then I realized how much I really like the shorter Regulator, and how the changes are actually quite perfect. The bowie styling of the original has not grown on me (preference), and I need a really good mid-range camping knife. These 6.5 Regs fit the bill!!

PLUS...I LOVE the SYKCO branding. It's the 5LA that I always use, and it sticks! Good marketing choice, Big Dog!

I WILL have them!! Bring on the trough stomp!

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 07:55 PM

Also wanted to state that I like the rounded choil also

Hey Big Dog...any chance for a shorter Sheath to match?

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 08:11 PM

Those regulators are nice and 6 1/2" too.
Posted By: Ishikawa

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 08:18 PM

Wonder if they would fit in a "Short" Combat Master? They say only up to 6"...but curious how it might fit.

Oh...who am I kidding...I'll just email Jeff

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/19/11 08:29 PM

Dan...the question has been asked on BF, but figured I'd cross post here to get info from the creator: Are the 6.5 Regs SR101 as well?

Good summary. I think a regulator attempt will be made for this ganza. If successful, I may re-home a rat or two.

I wish I had more news on when the Scrapivore LE I ordered will be hitting my card.

I love the new SYKCO logo on the 6.5" blade Regulators.

With a Bird Dog, Weiner Dog, Swamp Warden and a Scrapivore CG when they become available I'm with you HD. While I'd like to see a 10" Mil Reg that 6.5" jungle green is calling my name .

Now if the rest of you will just order the desert one so they they don't run out before they get to my email.....

I had debated talking down the 6.5 Regs...just so none of you stingy Dogs would take a chance on getting in line! Then I righted my ethics, and chose the path of competition..../sigh. I hope there's enough to go around for the hungry Dogs!

I will have to look it over tonight. From what I am hearing there might be some interesting stuff. I know I held a SLUT at the Tulsa show and it was nice and light, but not my thing.

I didn't see the rant, but my habit is to pay off every purchase each month, hence wanting to know when things will hit. I'm not giving away extra money to the CC companies and I've never paid a finance charge since college.

You're a good man! I had typed out a rant...and realized I was complaining arbitrarily and for no reason on a public forum and interjecting my personal beliefs on you without warrant. That's why I deleted it, even before posting....it just didn't feel right. Good to hear that you're credit free! It's something we should all strive for.

Now...back to knives. BRING ON THE 6.5!

How do I get a proxy!? Seriously. I need this knife.

If you can get this knife in my mailbox/hands, I will send you an insurgents toe ... oh yeah, and the money.

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/20/11 01:46 AM

After taking a better look at the Reg it's really lookinlike the one to shoot for. but once again things are too tight for me. I hope to see a few dogs with that one in the collections though.

Jerry typed "Very limited" next to the regulator.

If SYCO hasn't produced many regs for the ganza and no scrapivores have shipped...just what is going on in the shop? Something new, large batch orders?

We need some green, which matches my native terrain better

I was wondering/thinking the same thing......what's going on at the shop?

I really gotta get one of these.....the "very limited" kinda worries me. How many are there Dan?

The street with tequila sunrise scales looks awesome......I just can't justify shelling out that much $ for it.

Re: greensnow - 01/20/11 05:05 AM

Well I i get to look at it earlier. I hope a fellow dog can proxy me a Regulator tomorrow. Now the Taz, got one and am extremely happy with it. I know that the handle looks a little different but it does feel awesome in the hand. Like I said earlier the SLUT is not for me.

Good luck to all those getting in on the ganza tomorrow night.

Are the 6.5" Reg's sr-101?

and are the full flat grind instead of saber? It sure looks like it.

Re: greensnow - 01/20/11 05:51 AM

Looks like they took Test Team Regulators and modified them to be shorter, the tan and green handles are the give-a-way.

Agreed, 100%. Additionally, the blade spine doesn't "appear" to have the same dip that the Regulators have which is representative of the Bowie style blade profile. I'm not sure exactly what it's called...but I like that the 6.5 doesn't have it (or if it does, it's not as pronounced)

Oh, you should still have plenty left over!

OT- Timney came out this year with a Drop in Trigger for the Mosin Nagant.

*Edit* So, I accidentally mistook the Taz Rat for the Rat Mastiff ... I think I'll be sitting this one out. Until Dan Releases the CG 'Vore, I'm in the market for a chopper and little else. I can make due with what I have for now.

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/20/11 11:43 AM

Any specs on the new 6,5 Reg ?
Posted By: SkunkHunter

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/20/11 11:48 AM

Vlad, glad to hear from you. No specs that I saw, other than being a 6.5 inch blade and flat ground! I am sure that it will still be AT LEAST 1/4 inch thick though, it not the .333 of the original. IF I am able to get one from someone (I won't be able to make the Ganza) I am sort of thinking about the possibility getting rid of my MilReg).
Posted By: SkunkHunter

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/20/11 11:50 AM

I don't really want to get rid of it, but IF I get a 6.5 it would only turn into a collector. SO far the use has been light, was able to clean the blade off with alcohol and you can't tell there is any wear on the coating at all.
Posted By: SkunkHunter

Re: Ganza offerings - 01/20/11 11:51 AM

I think that this shorter, lighter Reg will be much more of a fighter type blade, although it will make one whale of a good all round user for almost anything.
