Update on Gary, Architect - 07/08/11 09:04 PM

I heard from Gary last night. He is doing good. In fact he wanted me to let you all know, so here is the email that I got. Lets keep the prayers going.

Jeff,

I am doing well. The surgery started at 1:10pm and I was taken to recovery at 7pm. I'm in STU (surgical transition unit) now, but will be transferred to a regular room in a few hours. It is 3:40am here. Hard to sleep.

The surgeon told my wife that I lost very little blood, and he was able to spare both nerve bundles. He also stated he felt the cancer was contained in my prostate! His last comment (as she relied it to me) was the surgery was a complete success. My pathology in 14 days will confirm or deny his feelings.

My first PSA test will be in six weeks. As long as God is continuing to answer prayers my score will be "undetectable" indicating the cancer has not yet spread.

The tough part begins after they remove my catheter in 10-14 days. Rehabilitation from Prostate Cancer is much worse than the surgery.

However.....I am completely ready to continue the battle! The prayers and concerns from friends, family and fellow Dawgs has given me the strength to do this.

Please post this on the forum as it will most likely be a few days before I can post.

My STUmate's equipment just stopped squawking obnoxiously so I going to try to get back to sleep. Looking forward to something to drink later because it has been 60 hours since I was allowed to drink anything.

Brother, Thanks for the prayers and concern. It has meant more than you will ever know to Brittney and I.

Sincerely,
Gary

I know this is a thread about Gary, but hopefully he and Sumo won't mind.

I heard from Vic that his brother is doing ok and that his surgery wasn't as critical as Gary's was.

Let's continue to keep both these folks, and anyone else that might be in need in our prayers along with their families.
