SPECUTLATION TIME: The new Executive Orders... - 01/04/16 07:27 PM

Anyone care to venture a guess as to what the anti-gun Executive Order will entail?

I've been hearing / reading that it will require more "background checks", but I've also heard magazine capacity is on the radar.

Anyone else?

I didn't look too hard but all I could find was expanded background checks. I have been wondering about the magazine restrictions thing also but so far I haven't seen any mention of it anywhere.

My wife said she heard mention of mag-capacity on a radio program, but it may have been a speculative discussion.

Breitbart News Reports:

On December 28 Bloomberg Business explained what form Obama’s executive action on gun control will take and predicted it will come “soon after New Year’s Day.”

Breitbart News previously reported that the executive gun control was expected to be an expansion of background checks to cover gun shows or to cover more private sales by changing the legal language relating to private gun owners who sell firearms from their “personal collection,” the way Americans have been doing since 1791.

Bloomberg Business believes Obama has settled on going around Congress to expand background checks by changing the way current law covers private gun owners who sell guns. This approach allows Obama to kill two birds with one stone by expanding background checks to cover more private sales in a way that will also expand checks to private sellers at gun shows.

I stopped trying to understand anti-constitutionalists when I figured out the ignorantly blissful and idealistically tyrannical cannot be fixed.

Stated plainly: you can't fix stupid.

People are different now. They don't have the same level of conviction. We, as a people, are too complacent. As long as we have high fructose laden sodas, cable television, and air conditioning...we're the sedate bovine they want us to be.

January 4, 2016 7:30 pm ( Dogs, I took this from fb, from an article from freebeacon.com

The Obama administration announced during a conference call with reporters Monday evening that the president’s upcoming executive order may require somebody selling even a single firearm to obtain a Federal Firearms License.

During the call White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest, White House Senior Adviser Valerie Jarrett, and Attorney General Loretta Lynch explained the details of the order, which will be announced publicly by President Obama Tuesday at 11:40 a.m. The action, officials explained, would include guidance on how the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives will now determine who is “engaged in the business” of selling firearms under federal law and, therefore, who is required to obtain a license to sell firearms.

“ATF will make clear that whether you are ‘engaged in the business’ depends on the facts and circumstances,” Jarrett said. “On factors such as: whether you represent yourself as a dealer, such as making business cards or taking credit card statements. Whether you sell firearms shortly after they’re acquired or whether you buy or sell in the original packaging.”

“Numbers are relevant. The ATF and DOJ did not identify a magic number of weapons that makes you engaged in the business because that would limit their ability to bring prosecution.”

Jarret then said that selling as few as “two firearms” could require somebody to obtain a federal firearms license. However, later in the call, Attorney General Lynch revised that number down further. “It can be as few as one or two depending upon the circumstances under which the person sells the gun,” Lynch said.

The federal firearms license application process takes several months to complete and costs a significant amount of money, according to the ATF website.

In addition to the new guidance on who must obtain a firearms license, Valerie Jarrett announced that the president would require the Social Security Administration to begin the rule-making process for prohibiting certain Social Security recipients from legally obtaining guns, a move that could bar millions from legally owning firearms.

The order will also include a number of other initiatives, including hiring more ATF agents, increasing research into so-called “smart gun” technology, adding further state recorders to the federal background check system, and making that system operate around the clock.

Obama’s Gun Control Force Will Be Eight Times Bigger Than Anti-ISIS Team

ForAmerica 10:37AM ET

Via the Washington Examiner:

President Obama plans to build a new gun control force of 430 agents, more than eight times the size of the team of commandos he is sending to the Middle East to hunt down and destroy ISIS terrorists.
According to a White House fact sheet, the president plans to deploy 200 more Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents “to help enforce our gun laws.”

He also plans to add at least 230 new FBI agents to pour over the backgrounds of gun buyers. Said the White House: “The FBI will hire more than 230 additional examiners and other staff to help process these background checks.”

In Iraq, by comparison, the White House is moving to install an estimated 50-200 special operations forces to take down ISIS.

According to an NBC report, Colonel Steve Warren, the Baghdad-based spokesman for the Combined Joint Task Force-Operation Inherent Resolve, said the number of commandos will be in the double digits, with the rest providing support.

An Associated Press report said the commandos would number around 50, with the rest in supporting roles.

Governor Abbott (Texas) is making some waves with his plan to add 9 Constitutional Amendments through a Convention of States. A few of them would severely restrict the scope of a Presidential Executive Order (would prohibit a Pres from creating federal law).

Could the tide be turning?
