10 of 10..Sometimes I'm a good guesser. I sure would not have bet money on my answers.

Re: Quiz - 07/22/09 08:57 PM

I got all 10 right - I've actually tried to use the chocolate one (I failed).

For the moon one, I had to draw a diagram and figure it out, I didn't know off the top of my head.

I disagree with the first question. It said, what is the single most important thing you need to survive in the wild, food, water, or warmth. It said water, I disagree. It said 3 days without water and you die. Well, if you have hypothermia you’ll die a lot quicker than that. Also, you can die of hypothermia in temps as high as 50 degrees if the conditions are right (wet, windy). To see how quickly you can go downhill, check this test Moine did at the Swamp: Hypothermia Testing -- Don't Do This At Home

I think the point is that water is a universal need - whether you're in the sahara or the arctic, you're going to need water. Warmth is only necessary in certain situations, not as "important", for some ill-defined meaning of "important".

If you're trapped in the middle of a zombie infestation, water isn't going to be the most important thing you need to survive, either.

Looks like the best way to start that fondue party when you are stranded out in the woods. you already have the chocolate and a can (and a way to make fire with them)...now best get looking for those berries.

Well, proper temperature should be regulated either direction for optimum health. Too cold, you get hypothermia, too hot & you get heat stroke. Either extreme can quickly kill you faster than dehydration. Eh, maybe they worded it poorly...

Good to know about the coke can and chocolate, because I always carry both of those when I go out.

I agree. That was one of the two I missed. Shelter is more important. You can live a month without food, 3 days without water, but you could die of exposure tonight.

I am surprised nobody posted the old saying, yet. However Andy Wayne alluded to it well.

3 minutes without AIR
3 hours without SHELTER
3 days without WATER
3 weeks without FOOD

I agree with you on that...I missed it too and in CO, warmth (shelter) IS more important than water for most of the year. Anyway, including that one, I missed 2.

When I "missed" that question I stopped taking it.

Shelter, water then food... then hugs.
