ZX, THANK YOU! It is one thing to see pictures like that on TV, but it is much better to see the ones that someone has actually taken, if that makes any sense.

I'm completely lost when it comes to what knife to get... Being a complete 'newbie' at this whole knife story, I'm trolling forums and reading as much as I can but for the moment I'm still no wiser.

Also considering the fact that I'm going to be ordering it from South Africa, with the extra shipping charges I want to get the right knife. Then again is there such a thing...

Having said that... I've just looked at the SYKCO 511 and this could just be the one...

I haven't got the biggest hands in the world and I like the fact that it's almost a multi-purpose kind of knife...

I do lots of hiking/camping/bush walking/bundu bashing and this knife would make a great companion...

Re: A drive through the Bushlands... - 07/23/11 02:03 PM

It was very quiet on this specific day...

When I'm home again I'll see if I can get a few 'shots' of some Wildebeest, Lion, Cheetah, Elephant, Rhino and maybe if I'm lucky a Leopard...

Seeing a Leopard is extremely rare becasue they camouflage themselves so well.

A few years back a buddy of mine was camping and without him even knowing a Leopard came up and grabbed him from behind, ripping all the skin off his skull and almost killing him. If it wasn't for the plastic chair he was sitting on and the fact that his daughter, who's a nurse was there, the Leopard might just have succeeded...

If a quiet day is like that it must be like a zoo on a crowded day...

That leopard attack was scary reading. We are just a part of a food chain and not always on top of it.

Re: A drive through the Bushlands... - 07/23/11 02:38 PM

Then of course you have these 'fellas'... Problematic to the point of being regarded as vermon - The infamous Vervet Monkey...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vervet_monkey

Under no circumstances do you leave your tent flap open or unzipped if there's nobody around, or leave you back-pack unattended. They'll go in and literally destroy everything in an attempt to find food.

This one is maybe 3 meteres away from me. They are not easily intimidated and have been known to bite children while stealing a sweet or something. Of course this guy is rather proud of himself as you can see...
