Anyone have a wrapped handle like that before? Years ago I had a CRKT tanto with a rayskin (?) wrapped handle...it hurt!
We did a lot of work to ensure that the handle did not hurt as you say. The handle is not soft, but more of a firm feel as well as we slightly swelled the handle to better fit the hand.

I have heard that fiberglass like that used in skateboards was used for battle scene prop sword handles. It was wrapped around the tang and then covered with leather or wood. The fiberglass absorbed the shock and stopped the tang from breaking when two metal swords clashed hard.
