I knew that had to be from MMHW

Same, knew it had to have been Teds work when I saw it.
Their handles, designs, and parkarized finish is easy to reconize.
I always dreamed of a MMHW knife when I was just getting into knives.

MMHW always does some interesting stuff!

Ted Frizzle and his brother are great guys, I've met them in the past, I used to have a couple of their blades too, although I've since sent both on to new homes...

Supposedly it's an entry tool, of sorts...

From their website:

"SERE Rescue/Survival Tool: Developed for an Air Force SERE (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) training specialist, this tool is designed for heavy cutting, prying and chopping. The long handle facilitates good leverage and balance."

Looks like something from Lord of the Rings.

Not from LotR. Or if it is, Tolkein borrowed it from history. The pattern is exactly that of a falx, just somewhat smaller.

I love Mineral Mountain! I have one of Ted's big bowies and let me tell you, that thing can take a small tree down with a few swipes. Good stuff!

Very wicked looking blade; I could see using it as a bush tool for clearing branches off of the pathways that I want wildlife to use.

Wow, I am not sure what kind of boots their customers usually wear, I cant imagine a knife blade of 10.5" fitting very many...

...do those come in size 15?

I like a lot of MM's more conservative designs. They seem well made and in the US
which is starting to get more important to me. Which must seem strange to those who know I am Canadian but I am happy to support any North American company that makes good stuff.

5160 is a great steel.

Another knife company with simple handmade hard use tools I like is Greyman.
