Since I'm finally picking up a piece of steel that's worth investing in another stone (the one I use now was my Great Grandfathers. it's definitely well worn), I was wondering if the Yard had any suggestions about what might be a good stone to use. I'm used to sharpening with an Arkansas stone, and was considering one of the tabletop models. I have a diamond rod that I keep handy for field sharpening.

One of the Best "natural setups" is the Norton tri hone system. It's three stones that measure about 12 inches x3 inches in a plastic base. The stones are mounted in a triangular cradle that rotates into an oil bath to clean off the stones.

Personally I like Diamond hones from DMT and SMITH. They last forever and stay flat.

Thanks, I'll take a look at them here shortly.
