sorry to hear about your gsr. saw a used one at the gun show and talked to the guy about it. i couldn't put my finger on it but i thought maybe he had bubba'd on it some and was pawning it off on somebody. now i get the feeling he had one with issues and was getting rid of it. that sucks because they look like good riles when you hold them. probably just some lemons out there but issues with a new rifle sure do spoil the whole experience.

there's a rifle out there for you.

gd I have learned to treat dealing with customer service like a job. if you aren't happy with the rifle and have a record of your attempts to get things right then you should be able to request a new rifle. it seems like a pain to deal with but really it is in the realm of possibilities.

while i would probably contact the dealer who sold you the rifle and see if they can return the rifle for a new. no ex change in funds but being a dealer they would have a little more pull.

if you want me to we can make a couple calls to ruger to work on getting you some options.we may can get you a credit towards another product or even just a new rifle unremaufactured rigfle to resell. I think you should really consider this. it's not asking too much for a company to stand by their product. the customer is always right and of you aren't happy ruger should at the very least consider ways to make it right other than the ones they have exhausted.

Maybe they can take the money you spent and put it towards the purchase price of that SR762 you were looking at.

that's what i was thinking. a refund would be better but you can fall back to a credit. at the very least you should request a replacement rifle. there is no harm in asking and sometimes it takes a little bit of wrangling. i would treat it like i'm earning $800 when I talk to them. anybody saying "we can't help you" is unacceptable since you have already given them multiple opportunities to resolve the issues and they did not. you have every right to talk to them about the issue and you arrnt wasting anybodies time since they clocked in and are answering the phones. if the person you are talking to can't help you then move up the management/pay scale. if they aren't in the office and it's business hours you call right back and get somebody on the phone. don't just leave a message. if they can't help call back another day or try another department or et somebody who will help you with other options. it may seem like a lot but the hours you put in earning the money you spent were most likely much longer and harder than talking on the phone for a couple hours. you may even recover some faith in ruger as a brand.

Thanks guys. I tried the whole exchange or credit deal when the rifle went back for a 2nd time and ruger would have no part of it!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm going to keep and and use it while I save for an auto .308 plus I have two 70% complete AR billet lowers to complete and build off of.
If I have another problem I may just drive to the factory and walk through the door and say here is your stinking gun lol.
The ruger sr762 is nice but because if my GSR problems I doubt I will ever buy another ruger product. Plus I got the dealer to let me pull out the BCG and the quality of machining was really rough. I've only done machining for a couple months and I can chamfer a heck of a lot better than they did.
Also they used roll pins to connect the top rail of the quad rail for end.
That was a cheap shortcut at best.

Also the mags from alpha industries that almost worked but I had to send back to be modified. It's been a few months and I haven't gotten more than a text from Chris the owner and I have no mags back. Also no refund. Getting pretty ticked off.

Unless your positive it would fill your needs 100% I'd buy a FAL now that I went down this road. Plus the GSR with a wood stock full mag and optics is in the same weight range. Also optics are a bit tricky. Scout scopes suck

That's some bad luck you had with the GSR. Unusual for a bolt gun to have so many problems.

I'm sure Ruger could work with an FFL or file the proper paperwork with ATF to replace the rifle. That's a dumb excuse.
