It would be alot easier to repair a cardboard sheath than a leather one.....and besides, I am a cheap@$$, 60bucks for a leather sheath when the knife cost me 90.....not very good economics. DO IT ANDY...open a sweatshop of 3rd world kids and mass produce these thnigs...outsource to india or somewhere like that!

I proposed the idea to my wife that we visit her family in Millington, Ten......she was onto my ruse immediately!!! She knew knives and guns were somewhere nearby! But the good new is she is actually considering it......I planted the seed of hope and now I will water it and watch it grow until Oct, then it is HARVEST TIME!!!!!!! Now I have to make some clandestine cash to be spent!

Yeah, it's easy to patch when it eventually gets worn, and it's a great source of emergency duct tape in the woods. Plus, under all those layers of duct tape you have water resistant cardboard for an emergency tinder source.

I've still not tried anything with leather yet. I have a Shaker sheath made from a recycled black leather belt in the works. I have the pieces all cut out, I just have to learn how to stitch and I'll get it together. Of course you guys will see it when its done.

When/if I successfully make a decent leather one, I might try making some out of leather to sell. I've been watching for cheap sources of leather to recycle at Goodwill etc. to keep the production price down.

Right now I have a couple thick, wide, black leather belts that I was going to eventually make Shaker sheaths out of, and one large weighlifting belt that I got for $3.

Bein' a cheap @$$ is what got me started making them. My first knife was my RatMastiff, but I couldn't afford $60+ for a leather sheath. And even if I could, it would take months to receive after ordering, and I'd have nothing to carry it in in the mean time. So I got creative.

Ya know, I was thinkin' the same thing recently...anybody know the number of a good sweatshop?

I don't know about a sweatshop, but my apt without AC is a sweatbox!!! It is so damned hot in here I am seeing a vision of my spirit guide "Bitting Dog" he is telling me I should go on a might quest to knob creek and that I should call the repairman!!!

It would be more like the Knob creek knife buy...4 years in the Military, 1 tour to Iraq...automatic machine guns don't really get me as excited as they used to....but a chance for a new knife....BROTHER COUNT ME IN!!!!!

I guess you're right - they wouldn't let you buy a machine-gun and take it home, but you COULD buy a new knife.

However, I carried an M-60 in VietNam - Rock & Roll brother!
