I know many people on the Busse forum frequently list the ASH1 when people ask "if you could only have one"

I have ANOTHER ASH1 about to ship to me (alone with six other Bussekins and an Emerson) from Florida, the other is a sandy blade with tan G10.... I bought 2 Skinny Ash 1's when they were available from the Company Store,
1 tan one ( same as Horn Dogs) & a green/ black one!!

Congrats Andy!! I love my ASH-1 too! It's Definitely my favorite Knife in that Size range.

.27"? Must be a one off. I've never heard of one in that thickness! I would love to try it out. .32" is too thick on a 6 3/4" blade for my tastes, but but .27" I could probably work with.

Mine is Black with (OD?) Green Canvas Micarta Mags - .225" thick with a distal taper, which makes it perfectly weighted and balanced in my opinion.

The color choice for my barnesbands lanyard was pretty easy for this blade.

The handles on the ASH-1 are perfection in my opinion. They fill the hands perfectly and provide such an excellent grip.

I am by and large a Kydex man, but for some reason I felt my ASH needed a black leather sheath. This one happens to be from Chuddy Bear. Have you decided on a sheath yet?

Pretty sure the .270 " thick Ash 1's were the Satin LE's

The satin LEs were .225". I'm intrigued and glad you share the same love as I do Andy! We need some of your famous pictures! Speaking of pictures, mine are gigantic ! I'm going to fix them in a sex. Sorry about that.

It cam with a leather MikeyMoto sheath but I am not fond of danglers and it is left handed (I am not) so it went to another Hog in Canada....it is a really well traveled sheath !!

The height is 1 7/8" if I remember correctly.

The CG is .32" thick and a whopping 20 something ounces, while the LE is .225" thick.

Mine is the same thickness as the LE under the handles up until the ricasso. At the plunge line, it tapers down to around .2" and gradually tapers towards the tip.

I'm guessing Andy got the ASH-1 CG, which is a behemoth. I've had the opportunity to play with one and it's awesome as a do-it-all camp knife. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one, but I was looking for something lighter in that size range when I went looking for an ASH.

Anyways, this thread is not about me. Congrats again Andy! I think the ASH-1 is a lifetime classic in any thickness!

I love my ASH-1.

It was my first Busse. While it's heavy, it punches above its weight class for sure. However, it's still very usable for delicate tasks. I used mine yesterday to peel and slice an apple. It's thickness to length ratio puts it in a class of its own. It has enough heft to chop fairly well, but is short enough so that if you choke up, you have good tip and edge control.

Letting go of my Skinny ASH is the single worst knife decision I ever made. I love that knife.
