I have been heads down working on the Sip & Talk Special that you talked about and I listened to. As a reminder this knife will only be offered to Dogs that are registered on this forum. Also I will laser your JYD number into one of the knives at no charge if you are at a Junk Yard Dog Status (1000 posts)at the time of the release. This release will only take place on this forum and it will not be available to others that are not part of the yard.

SO if things go right I should be able to post a pic & specs latter this week...keep your fingers crossed...heck send a little smoke up...this is some kind of knife that will establish a whole new level of performance to price ratio....very cool

Here is a small/slight hint: It has a Res C handle with a reach to the lucky dog regardless

Hint had me think about a top-guard removed Regulator...but I'm excited about whatever it really is, due to its exclusivity.

I love the DF basic handle but the Regulator handle feels extra cushy and has a little extra purchase room. For a BIG blade it makes sense

It will be interesting to see how big a blade Dan can make. Remember he tried a Scizzy with Res-c and because of torque issues he had to go with the wrap. I wonder what the actual size and weight is before its no longer feasable or trustworthy to use a Res-c handle.

I think SP's Magnum De-regulator may be the answer. I also hope its not .333" thick! I love my reg but that will be one heavy blade!

I think the res-c is the best handle material I´ve come accross.

I also hope the special edition blade differs clearly from the 11-series, I believe it does.

Yep. The small/slight reference is thin like a Machete. Reach is long like a Machete. Regardless is a reference to a cord wrap like the Skizzy. Price to performance baby!

To solve the torque problem, Just put the hollow rivets through the handle/tang every 3-4 inches. I would think that should solve the problem.

I was thinking a swell in the middle of the tang, instead of just a straight tang. Kind of like a reverse hour glass profile. But, I ain't no rocket surgeon.

...or maybe like a pregnant tang profile, with the swell on the side facing the fingers instead of the palm. That should resist the tendency to twist. Again, I cannot perform rocket surgery.

Not that fluent in Busse yet, but I would guess it would be a good month before you could place an order and after that the standard answer from the Yard is 4 - 16 weeks for delivery.

Personally, I really don't care how long it takes to get my FDM. Just knowing that something this special will be mine is enought to keep me happy until I get it.

I have a feeling it's a good one, but I'll take whatever it is with my number on it.

Ok Dan, I've been reading through some of the other theads along with this one. We've discussed length, width, thickness, type of knife or maybe hawk, and handle type to no end. Now we've moved on to color - black, satin, tan, jungle green and probably a few more (oh yeah, Horn Dog likes zombie green). And whether it should be 2 tone or same color. We have about run out of new things to dicuss on the FDM so how about those pics and specs or at least give us another hint we haven't discussed so we can start all over again.

A Gladius would be nice, but the PETZ (People for Ethical Treatment Of Zombies) would probably claim that the double edge would inflict only superficial flesh wounds on the back swing thereby causing the Zombies unnecessary pain and anguish. The PETZ people are safe of course, because they have no brains. The NAME of the organization substantiates that.

There is some hawks here in retail, but those are imported by retailers who have permits and pay all the customs fees, taxes...

All for it except for the De-Regulator part. For me there is nothing more ugly than a DeReg.

For the ones that like their Regulators with one arm chopped off it's pretty easy to take a hack saw and sandpaper to it. Or a 4" grinder and nub it down to where you are happy. Just don't make us all have to have it that way.

Well, form follows function. Everything is a compromise.

I usually have to be attracted to a knife before I wanna pick one up and check it out. Sometimes it's the wow factor sometimes it's the look of comfort but something about a knife makes me choose it over everything else sitting there. Everyone has different taste's in what they want in a knife. It'll be interesting to see how everyone reacts when we finally get some specs and pics...

My card got dinged today for $362.00. My FDM's are on the way.

I have had a hiatus from knife ordering since April, so I really long for the FDM release!

3 boot knives from Blade, a custom R6, 2 hawks with sheaths, an R4 variant and an RMD variant from the ganza.

Make it .25 or less though. I love my De-regs but .333 is just too much. Especially on a 13" knife...unless you guys are gonna keep it in a safe...

My point that I was trying to convey is that a Reg Handle is easy to make into a De-Reg but not the other way around and for me in addition to making the knife look funny in my opinion. I think the regulator also allows a better interface between myself and said sharp instrument.

I also am of the opinion that looks do play a role in the likability of a knife otherwise why would busse and kin offer many knives in different color combinations.

No knife or anything else is going to please everyone.

I am amazed at how dependent we are on our addiction suppliers. Most business people would be afraid to lose sales making promises of product promotional information and not delivering them within the promised time frame. Instead we dogs just keep coming to the table eafch day hoping for some scraps or to be thrown a bone.

I am sure that there are many reasons folks keep coming back. Here are just a few that I thought of "Off the cuff"

1. We KNOW Dan will deliver, maybe not in the time frame HE wants (he did say hopefully) for a multitude of reasons, reasons that he DOES NOT have to inform us of, but often times does.

2. The Quality is there, some of if not THE toughest knives out there.

3. The Warranty is unsurpassed.

4. Dan Cares for his customers, treating us more like extended family members than just customers.

5. He actually interacts with us, listening to us and providing, or at least trying to provide what we want.

Dan shows a loyalty to us and we in turn return that loyalty.

I havnt looked in here in a while...so nothing new specs wise. Any hints?

Come? We havnt left lol.We have the castle encircled. We have roving patrols across the countryside to prevent re-supply. We have taken the high ground and put up some catapults well withing range to rain down on the castle. I have other troops also out scouting so that his brother and other kin do not out-flank us.

This is a war of attrition. I will start out slow. First Im gonna launch some big hollowed out stumps with the catapult filled with pee and feces. After a few days of that maybe we can SKUNK them out lol.

Since we dont want this to be a lethal encounter I will keep DT off of search and destroy mode......



And keep him stricly to finding a way in. Be it a small access under the moat or some other means, he will find it. I first need to install the chip in him that will send me an alarm if he gets too close to the plans or the armory where they keep the knives. This can trigger super squirrel-mode. The sensor will notice a dramatic rise in temperature and protien levels in the blood rising. Then I will be able to hit the zap button that will toss a quick shock directly into his pituitary gland thus stopping the full transformation into SKS ...super..killer...squirrel.. thereby saving MANY lives.
