Of knives or the event?

I'm not big on photo shoots while I'm doing things, but do occasionally snap a couple.

I will not be able to see the TH evening treasure trove of awesome, but will be attending the shoot itself.

1911 grips:

Knives -- it's a little subtle, but some of the Scrapmax blades were clip-point ground; I got a trio of them:

[Linked Image from i202.photobucket.com]

Knives -- I carried that "Bumble Bee" NMFBM around for a while. I was sorely tempted, but decided to pass. With the other stuff in my basket, another $747 was more than I wanted to spend for it, although if I didn't already have a couple (coated) MNFBMs from when they were initially released, I probably would have:

[Linked Image from i202.photobucket.com]

Knives -- The first of those Hunters had an interesting handle. It was shaped more like a BOSS Street handle than the Muk pattern. I thought that it felt very good in the hand (I don't know who got it, but it was gone when I looked):

Re: Knob Creek pictures please - 10/12/12 07:28 AM

Knives -- Garth said that the wall picture that appeared to be a tanto FBM was actually the FBM in someone's hand in this picture. It was a trick of the light -- there was no big satin tanto at the show:

[Linked Image from i202.photobucket.com]

Knives -- One of the show specials; Satin Jack Tac Military Overruns:

[Linked Image from i202.photobucket.com]

Knives -- The other show special is in the lower right of this picture, modified Tan Desert Camo 911s (slightly curved spine and clip point). I bought a few for myself, but none will make it to the range because they sold out at the pre sale. I know that one of the attendees bought a bunch to sell, so I'm disinclined to spread additional discontent by posting my picture with the sale price:

Re: Knob Creek pictures please - 10/12/12 08:21 AM

I would say that at least half of what the crew brought sold tonight. There's still good stuff to be had, but any unusual, high-demand blades simply won't make it to the range. I spoke with someone who confirmed that maybe 5 years ago, that wasn't the case -- back in Fall 2007, I bought Scrap Yard Rat Traps at the range, but that wouldn't happen today. If you plan to come to Knob Creek and there's any way you can swing it, then it's well worth coming early for the Thursday night sale. Also, I don't know when the line begins forming, but I got there 3 hours before the preview and was 9th.

Are there any limitations to how many knives one individual can buy?

I wonder how much it amounts to, when it is flipped on the exchange!?

Re: Knob Creek pictures please - 10/12/12 06:53 PM

I spoke with a couple others who rang up more than $6K, and saw a few more that had around that, but who I didn't ask. Money's one of those things that it's sometimes tough to work into the conversation. My haul was just over $1.8K after tax, and I was middling -- I saw a couple folks with just a knife or two, and one frequent attendee told me that he didn't buy a thing. There are some serious players who come to the Thursday night pre-sale, but there are also some more modest folk, so don't think that you have to take out a second mortgage to attend.

Honestly, I didn't think that I'd buy nearly as much as I did during the preview. When we lined up outside for the "rush" back into the room, I remarked that I had my eye on two knives, but wouldn't be upset if I didn't spend a cent. Then, while snatching possibilities to evaluate in a corner, five rats that weren't on my list found their way into my basket (I kept 3 of them) and the 911 mods were so popular that I grabbed a couple more than I intended to as investments.

I'm going to wander off topic for a moment -- I hear the word "decimate" used when people actually mean "annihilate". I've heard it on television reports recently and again in last night's debate -- decimation was a Roman legion-level punishment where 1 in 10 would be executed -- it means a 10% loss.
After the initial ruch, the tables were much closer to annihilated. Later, as people returned knives from their hoards, it appeared that perhaps half of the knives came back, but that's a lot to be gone in a matter of minutes.

Thanks again Jim and Luck

I agree with RN those Jack Tacs were looking pretty sweet!
I hope I have some decent cash in hand if there's a Ganza

Also those Rucki's got some crazy blades on em! What is that orange handled/arctic white thing? I like the Tanto but to be honest the agressive point from the ones in the shop is fine with me.

Those artic white ones were regular ruckis in that config. I think you can still order that way. The tanto rucks were left on the table, only one was bought that I know off.

You're right, but I already have several "Embrace The Suck" SJTACs, so I passed. They sold well, although I think that a few may have been left over. With the 911 mods, one fellow bought the entire box from under the table.

Re: Knob Creek pictures please - 10/13/12 02:31 AM

I don't think there is a single link that would really be able to explain the LK thing fully. However, if you are a paying member at BF, there is a thread you will be able to find called something like "**ck Liu Kang!" that probably best explains it. Sorry, but rules do not allow linking to that particular area of BF, so you'll have to go search it out for yourselves. You will after reading through it. He's lowlife scum. There are good reasons that people don't like him and that he finally got banned there.

ETA: So I had the thread title off ever so slightly. However, I just posted the above quoted text in the thread, so it shouldn't be very hard to find at all...

ETA2: Just fyi, in case you couldn't already tell, that thread is full of coarse language and some graphic images. Fair warning.

I retyped this about 10 times because I don't know how to get out what I want to say. I only know maybe half of the story but I think it is kind of beneath us to keep bringing LK up in forums every time we think he might have done something. Brothers of Busse whom I respect have had disagreements with him and continue to do so to some degree at shows. It pains me to see that we can't all get along. I talked with him standing in line at Knob and while his personality and "Hog trickery" is different than mine, he has never done anything to me persoanlly and I can have a laughing conversation with him about knives. I personally witnessed him ask another customer what he was looking for when that customer said he was unable to score anything he had wanted. I firmly believe he would have taken it out of his boxes and allowed the man to buy it himself if it was the one knife he had wanted. He rarely likes Res C so in reguards to the Dogs he rarely buys up all the $80 knives. I am not standing up for him per se as I don't know him that well or most of the people on this forum (even those I proxied for) for that matter. I even had a hopefully good natured political argument with a fellow Dog who has a drastically different political view than what I would have expected. We still love Bussekin and we still will see each other at Knob and visit.

Lets not spread the discontent and get back to likin' knives and the friendships we have. Hopefully this will be received in the attitude it was intended.
