Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger

Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 10/18/12 06:45 PM

Dogs

I have received a few emails in regard to the edge sharpness of the Hot Diggity Dog Dagger. Each knife is sharpened with special attention given to the tip geometry to ensure strength on impact. These knives are a defensive weapon and are not designed for whittling, carving, skinning or chopping. To be clear, these knives are not intended to shave. I am not sure I would want a dagger being held to my throat in an attempt to clean up my face even If I am the one holding it. The nicks would be brutal...LOL

These knives do a great job of sticking, stabbing, poking, plunging, and perforating. They are great little knives for the money and compliment most collections.

I hope this clears up any confusion.

WHAT! You mean there is a DAGGER that doesn't excel at whittling, carving, skinning or chopping! Oh the shame of it all

YUP, we have all at least tried to do those things with a dagger. BUT come on folks, it is a DOUBLE EDGED STICKING BLADE! It has one purpose, to get you out of trouble so you can get safely away from the danger.

Using it for one of the other stated purposes would be like using a 16 pound sledge hammer to hammer finishing nails!

Dogs.....

I cant help but think how 12C27 would perform in a more user orientated design. It is a good steal and with the knowledge of heat treat from the dog pound (BUSSE KIN) it should perform exceptionally well.

Dan....cant we get a warncliff Scrapivore or even just a Scrapivore shape in 12C27?

Nicely stated.

There are some that want a knife, regardless of design, to do everything

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 10/27/12 06:41 AM

i'm hoping these will make some real tough little throwing knives! can anybody confirm or disconfirm this allegation? they're shorter than most throwing knives but i'm hoping they make up for it in thickness...

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 10/28/12 02:26 AM

Does this mean they are being shipping out soon...

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 10/28/12 07:48 AM

I held Hot Diggity Dogs at Knob Creek and may come to regret not buying a few, but they just aren't a blade that I would carry. They're a very good small hold-out, necker sort of knife and priced to sell, but at least for me, they're less practical than a 3-11. They could be thrown, but may not have the weight for good down-range penetration; I'd be interested on hearing how well they work for you as throwers.

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 11/02/12 10:36 PM

still hoping to see throwing results...

also I can't be the only one who is wants to see one of these made into some kind of a spear???

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 11/02/12 10:37 PM

and Jim I would think you should have at least one or two around as a cool letter opener.

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 11/03/12 07:58 AM

I mostly throw knives at a relatively close distance, using either a no-rotation, half-rotation, or full-rotation throw, at about 1, 2, and 3 meters respectively. After that my sticking percentage goes down drastically. That's why I love my 1st gen. Cold Steel Sure Strike throwing stars--they always stick! Not useful as a knife however. In my opinion most throwing weapons are primarily a distraction; while the zombies are reacting to the three HDDDaggers I just threw at them, I'll be charging in with the 1311 and/or Scrapizashi. Even if they don't stick, they should get the job done. I throw my TOPS Indio pretty well. Its 7 1/4" long and 1/8" thick.

I'll let you guys know how it goes once I get the daggers. 1311 and 411 first though, please. Its a good time to be a Dog

I like the red ones that are in the upcoming Cupidganza. I'll think about those, but doubt I'll be sufficiently motivated to send a 'ganza email. The red-bladed 311s are very nice too.

This is also one of the reasons I traded for one, should work well for that role. Not to mention throwing, self defense, drilling, puncturing, etc.....

BTW, I just picked up a sage and I see black on the website. What other colors did it come in?

Re: Note On The Hot Diggity Dog Dagger - 04/14/13 07:42 PM

The original ones from Blade last year were sage, gray and black. I saw some zombie green on the Knob Creek pics and I think there was a red at the last ganza.
