Fruita Canyon.......PIC HEAVY!!!

I got a chance to get out hiking yesterday, this time I hiked the rim of Fruita Canyon.



I brought along my new hiking companion (Boss Jack) to keep me company.....



Fruita Canyon is simply breathtaking, especially this time of year when there's snow present.











Across the valley you can see the Grand Mesa, which is the world's largest mesa (flat top mountain)



The clouds above Grand Mesa are delivering some snow in this photo.....



The Colorado River can be seen snaking through the valley in the foreground.



This rock formation was quite interesting, it almost looks like a human head and torso...

Thats one of my favorite places. I first went there when I was 10 years old. I have a couple photos from nearly that exact vantage point. One with a nice Bighorn standing there.

I saw some Bighorn Sheep tracks while I was up there, but I've yet to see any large game up there yet.

I see them all the time. Pretty common on my side of the mountains. I have seen them almost every time I go to Co natl Mon.

I must be pretty unlucky then......

I've seen them elsewhere in the state, but not had any luck on the monument.

I saw these guys this spring while riding my bike near Cotapaxi.

It was gusting pretty hard during our hike, which was pretty bone chilling at that temperature and altitude (almost 8,000 ft.)

I had my back turned to the wind as I was gazing into the canyon, at that moment my wife snapped a photo of me behind the bush.

It wasn't until I was editing that I realized it looked as though I was doing "something else" behind that bush..... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/footinmouth.gif" alt="" />

That Boss Jack looks like it needs some beatin.......

The Boss Jack is a great knife. Had one for a short stint. After I pay of this TGLB, and then refill the hole in my heart with another CGASH-1, Ill get another Boss Jack.

It surprises me how slow the market is for Boss Jack's right now.

They are easily my favorite Busse design and probably the most practical mid-size model they've offered.

I guess it's a good thing for those looking for one right now....
