Daughter Home On Leave

Daughter Home On Leave - 02/04/13 03:28 AM

My daughter is home on leave from the Air Force. She brought my 18 month old grandson, Christoph. He is a joy. He grabbed my army cap and put it on (with the bill to the front even). I pray that his generation does a better job of peacemaking than mine did.

I truly am enjoying this visit, JJ. My dear sister gets to see them tomorrow. She is a hero of mine. She has labored for freedom all her life. And her days are getting short. I have been greatly blessed to have known a few heroes, mostly in the military. Most have passed on. But when I see my beautiful grandson, I pray that he will enjoy peace and freedom and not endless wars and and an increasing police state. I was watching A Few Good Men last night. I have so much respect for those brave Marines who stand on the wall. I always try to keep in mind just what we all fought for.

I'm with you. I am relatively young, but these wars are growing old.

I never knew how excited I would be about having a grandson. It is a special feeling that I cannot describe. He loves his old grandpa, and that makes me feel so good. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

He needs you to teach him the way of the Viking and to tell him tales of wicked Palmetto leaves...

We walked together today to see goats, donkeys, horses, and a hog next door. He saw me with my walking stick, so I had to fashion one for him. I'll have to wait a while to give him one of my Bushwackers and show him the proper technique for whacking palmettos.

You still got the energy to hang with a 18 month old? I'm impressed. Here I thought you were one of us old guys.

My son and I watched Jerrys twins and baby while they went to a school function for the 5 year old....wow it took me 2 days to recover from that 4 hour watch.

Susan took him next door to feed Sissy's animals.

Sissy was out on the tractor and gave Christoph a tractor ride.

It's hard to keep up with a little one.

Bonnie is doing well. She has another year to go in Germany. She just scored 96.5 on her PT test. She likes the AF. She is Senior Airman and going for SSGT. She was in Spain last week. As an intel analyst at the AOC, she has been busy. AFRICOM is there. My sister is fading. Bonnie is going over to visit her. Thanks for the prayers.
