At least we are back! With the Swamp down, then the Yard, I was beginning to think a deliberate attack was going on.

I still think us Swamp Dwellers are the red headed step children!

Huh, makes quick looks a thing of the past. I'll be checking back tonight. Swamp and BF are sketchy today too. Looks like server / software update stuff. But with Asian issues recently, I'm betting a lot of Web-based issues are bound to occur. Be they attacks, or just security updates to prevent/resist attack/hack.

The new look is a little more sterile, IMO. But it works fine.

If you look to the right at the post number it looks like we are almost at the 750k mark.

What happened?

Hmm... Yes, that seems odd. If you add the two forums up the total is some 695000 posts. So who knows why the postcount to the right is almost at the 750 K?

Smaller text is harder to read.

Yea, I was super surprised to see the new look. It will take some getting used to and, as already stated, quick checks will are a thing of the past

I like it. I went into preferences and made a few tweaks and used text zoom on my browser and all is well.

Go to view in your browser menu and zoom text. it should remember your preferences each time to return.

There's a watch user feature that alerts you when a certain member posts anything and a buddy feature. A little more social network oriented I see.

updated the framework to a more current one. probably a better security features and such. hopefully they increased the PM box...

guess I'll get used to the look but it should be pretty simple to create a second look off the current template. i preferred the light gray look.

is it me or did some old deleted messages show up in the new system?

A possible issue you may run into with PM's; you may have deleted them before, but if they still showed in the other parties inbox they still existed on the server and thus could be "restored" for you to have to nuke again. One of several side effects of the import process; one of the only that I can't really nuke on users behalf.

YUP, happened to me. I had to delete 17 pages of PM's!

so quite a few of us were switched over to the light theme. my guess it that with this theme most stuff wold be fine. thinking a tweak in the css to give a light grey background and black text would get us a good theme option.

Depending on your OS and browser. COMMAND and + for Firefox on Macs.

I'm thinking of changing my avatar here and perhaps in the Swamp too. Both were kinda spur of the moment resized photos. On BF, my avatar has a deeper meaning. Will play with ideas and freshen things a bit to fit the theme of "new look" lately.

Does taking this site to semi-private (only viewed while logged in) mean more special releases and exclusive items? If so....happy!!!

OK, a few things I found out.

It seems that ALL Private Messages you have ever sent/received are now showing up in (Go to My Stuff and use the pull down menu items). I had to delete 17 pages worth of PM's!

Also check your preferences and Profile, as some things have changed and you I THINK now have more control.

Also it seems like you sig line can now have up to 500 Characters! I'll check this out in a sec.

OK, the TIME format, is WAY WAY off, like about 4 hours and 15 minutes SLOW!

I am kept logged on, both on my computer and my phone. I don't know how, but it is possible!

I too would get annoyed, it I had to log on everytime, but it works for me.

No worries... this is just going to be one of the theme options. We should be getting a light theme with colored accents up later tonight, and then we will be adding an all light gray theme (not much contrast) with larger text within a day or two. We will have a "Style Chooser" so you can choose the way you want to view the forums.

Dan was going to post this, but he had to turn all the lights off in his office because this forum was just too bright for him. He keeps walking into the walls... not sure he'll make it back to his computer.

Just tried the Light_Theme in preferences. Not recommended.

I kinda like the lighter_theme_huge_print. I can sit 10 feet away from the computer.

I like the dark theme. Works for me!

Rich, as I said above, go to the My Stuff pull down menu, then to preferences and then go down the page to this

Total posts to show on one page when viewing a post in flat mode: (default is 10)

And change the number in the box just below it to 20 (or whatever you prefer).

The dark theme is much better than the retina burn from the light one.

Slowly looking through the control of the site as well. One bonus I was looking forward to is the improvement in anti spammer tech. One of my manual steps just gained some automation. Hopefully it'll help.

Just curious about this one. I did a quick test and you can browse the forums and read posts without logging ing. I also verified the site permissions and they support this as well.

No one could ever post without logging in here though.

Chris, the first couple times I came to the New site here I couldn't view anything but the main menu screen until I signed in. After about the first couple days it changed.
