Bladeshow scores

Bladeshow scores - 06/05/13 09:28 PM

Back from Bladeshow now and just wanted to show some the stuff I got.
No Scrap Yard scores, since I already have most of the models.

It was a great show, and I was amazed at the amount of high quality blades there! Did I not have some degree of restraint, I would be a poor man now.

First off, I want to say: Tom Kanik is a great guy.
As I introduced myself, he gave me this Scrap Yard bracelet he had made, right off the bat!
Here paired with my beat up Yardkeeper, since the logo is the same as the charm:

Actually I recieved my #22 Taliwhacker the day before I left for Atlanta, but here it is:

Custom Shop Ratmandu. Clippoint and with a slight swedge on the blade.
Sheath: Rowes leather

Custom Shop 311, full height flat I would call it.

And finally the Vex. Great job on the convexed edge!

So what did you get? I'm jealous that I live much closer than you do, but didn't get to go.

Feldgrun, I pressed the "post button" too soon, before adding the pics. So now the post is complete.

Nice scores! The Vex is my favorite knife EVER!

That Taliwhacker is sweet!

Thanks, Rasmus! That Vex is excellent. I've been mumbling about wanting a good bushcraft knife from Bussekin, and I may have found one. If only I'd been at Blade...

Yep', the "didn't goers" regret!^^^ I tried for a Vex card being tossed out but didn't catch one.

Re: Bladeshow scores - 06/06/13 03:41 AM

I never gave those Rodent 3's a second thought since a friend of mine has one of the Cupidganza ones and I find it to be too thick, but today I discovered that these are much thinner and FFG. Now I'm intrigued. Nice score!

Yup, all thinned out! Looks and feels great.
I actually got it for my girlfriend, and the thinner grind will fit for her perfectly.

Tom and Dan, it was great meeting you guys too!
That trip overthere was worth every penny and every miserable hour on the plane. I tell you, the seat on my return flight just had the worst ergonomics ever!

But totally worth it!

Thanks!

You should go someday! There is just so much cool stuff. And good people!

Sorry I missed your post about the skeleton key on Bladeforums, but by the time I saw it, it was all over. Would have been no problem getting one.

Was a late long shot from my part, nothing to be sorry about!

I've been looking at the pics being posted and it sure seems like an awesome event!

Re: Bladeshow scores - 06/06/13 08:33 PM

Btw, did you handle the new 11 at blade?

I ask because I've been thinking about whether I should pickup a 13 from the x or hold out for the new 11.

I'm guessing that the 1311 should be both longer and lighter than the 1111.

If there's anyone else who's handled both, please let me know how you compare the two.

My plan is certainly to make it again next year! And bring my girlfriend along to fight my battles in the frenzies. She is a fierce competitor, and would not back down from anyone mad cool
So I too hope to see you guys there next year.
