Regulator, best SY deal of all time?

So I was looking at some old receipts and discovered that the Reg with sheath was only $110, unbelievable. For the knife that it is? It chops, it slices, it dices. I understand that economics have changed in the last few years so I wondered if there was ever a better deal that came from the Yard?

Only deal like it was the 6.5 Regulator for $79.

I was really tickled with mine, and would have paid a lot more for it if needed. (Hope Dan didn't read that!)

For me it is hard to say because of the exchange rate
When I bought the dumpster mutt and Yardkeeper the Canadian dollar was around $0.65 or $0.70 us.
When I bought the regulator tt and the 1311 the Canadian dollar was around par with the us dollar

Sooo is there any thinking that the regulator should come back in a different configuration??? I would love to hear back from the Yard

Hmmmmm. How about with a 12 inch blade, a quarter inch thick. Oh and In RED (so all the blood from cutting ourselves wouldn't show so bad). And MAYBE The Bowielator. With the blade wider as it gets toward the tip than at the handle.

I love my Reg, But I wish it was .20 - .25" thick. If you make it longer thats fine but definately thin it out.

Ok, this one would have to be an intermediate one. Say 14-15 inch blade shaped like the picture of my old negrito Bolo I posted up.

The original Regulator shape would be fine.

I would like to see a regulator le with a 10+ inch blade and a metal guard.

I would be up for a larger Regulator blade in the 10-12" length. Ultimate survival bowie.

I usually find every release is the best deal of all time, until I see the next release.. Kind of a vicious cycle actually.

12" blade, 5/16" thick, regulator handle! Same overall shape as the original, but up-sized. A 1211 with those features would be my preference. Or maybe just the 6.5 regulator design released as the 611.....or both

I might also say that I LOVE the nylon sheath that came with the regulators and an up-sized version of that might be something to think about.

Also, Melt the spine like on the original. Just so cool like that.

Dan, I'm in the camp that couldn't get into the dramatic clip point. I've bought several and ultimately sold them all. I know some really love it, but I just couldn't get into the blade design.

I've really liked the 6 incher, the spear point, and the bulldog. I would LOVE to see any of those as a regular offering at the Yard--particularly the spear point with the swedge and penetrator tip. but ANY of those would be great.

We've got a 911 and an 1111 up so I think we're covered for big steel at the moment. But that's just me If you want me to risk my wife's wrath, it has to be for something I can't live without.... and something I can use to build my own doghouse...

Shouldn't take much of a knife to build a house that small. I mean after all, Squirrels aren't really all that big.

But yeah, I could do without that upswept tip but I do understand the reasoning for it.

Well I have to admit, I was never a fan of the blade shape or the double-guarded handle. I should have bought a De-Reg but even then I always intended to modify the front guard for improved choil grip. Without a modification, I thought the choil was useless. All that negativity aside, who wouldn't feel dang blessed to have one in his possession in a crap situation?

I feel that if the Regulator were to live on as a series, it should always be one that is just the ultimate SY bang-for-your-buck in a largish knife. Whatever Dan and the crew can manufacture for the lowest price economically possible. That would be pretty awesome.

I think that most of us here consider the Reg/DeReg as a Camp/outdoor blade, whereas it MIGHT have been (can't remember what Dan said) as the ultimate fighter that doubles as a Survival blade. In that case the blade shape begins to make more sense.

If a new version were to come about, I would like to see emphasis as a fighter with camp/survival capabilities with a larger blade.

The 6-1/2 camo Regulator was my favorite Regulator; I always dreamed that it would be available, someday, in a slghtly longer version. That said, my stripped 6-1/2 is my alltime fav.

I had one (6.5 Reg) for a while and Yes, it IS NICE. But when I saw the Bullnose Regulator, I just couldn't resist that strange looking nose and I couldn't afford to buy it so the owner wanted another 6.5 so we BOTH became happy campers.

I have Regulators, De-Regulators, and a BullDog Regulator, but I prefer the De-Regulator most and BullDog the least.

Oh well, at least it's in third place.

I guess it deserves the Bronze.

Have any of these knives 8 inches , camo , and finally without Choil, would be perfect.

I'd like the shiny Regulator also but with a metal guard! The handle was the only thing keeping me from the first one.
