Over a year since we made a JYD

Seeing a lot more posts now that Dan went back to the old business plan. We only had 3 JYDs in 2014 last one in March. I'm betting we continue to get more action on the forums, I know I'm back and posting more.

Well if Dan makes this new offering JYD only model, watch out! He said a dog in good standing, but have not seen that defined.
I will admit I also fell off in my participation on here, but if Dan was AWOL how could you not expect others to slack as well. But that is over and the ride is back on. Forgot how long two weeks can be when you are anxiously waiting. Bring it Dan.

Yeah, I know . . . but do they ever bring knives back into the rotation? Like say the Scrapivore? I know I will have to pick up a Mud Mutt on the secondary market but would love to see the Scrapivore come back.

You never really know for sure; some "oldies" might show up at Blade or the next Knob Creek.

Was going to try to go to Blade this year but decided to try and use all my kitchen passes for the First ESEE gathering in late July.

If you went to Blade you could meet the Essee folks as well as the Busse crowd.

We'd get more JYDs if we had something to talk about -- a new knife, or even an old one. I check back every now & again to see if anything new pops up, but nothing...

WE all know that, but I think that Dan needs to be reminded.

Is there a record for the longest time from induction at Blade until receiving a JYD status here on the forums? If so I think I may be in the running. I may have to take a day off to just revive my sleepy old run for the porch thread and light it up to make sure at least one JYD is achieved this year. Maybe I should race Dan for the release of the new blade?

I'm doing fine. On standby for Nepal. Been on standby for a week.

Since you were slated to go over there anyway, I figured they would tap you to go over early. THAT is NOT going to be a good duty.

Yes, the cleanup and recovery is going to take a long time.

We are pushing out to the "unreachable" parts of Nepal. I will be the PA chief for Joint Task Force 505/Forward. No idea how long we'll be there.

I have done this before in the 2006 Indonesia earthquake. I have been giving my Marines talks on what to expect. None of them have seen bodies outside of a funeral home. I won't go into details here about the senses assaulted in places like this.

I agree with Feldgrun, I scan the forum ( without logging in about once every other month and haven't seen anything to comment on).

I also agree with you. It's their company and they are 100% entitled to run it however they want, but it seems obvious to me that they're missing out on a lot of market space opportunity.

Back when there was the death chat thread a new member could make JYD in a week. When Dan introduced the 1311 to JYD's only I remember a few guys made JYD in a few day posting in that thread.

Years ago there used to be many more active members on here, but it seemed like scrapyard introduced more knives back then. There was more to talk about back then. Kind of quiet on here the past few years.

I'm lurking and what not, but as a newer guy, I'm just collecting information, not always the same kind of history to talk about. I've been a part of alot of online communities, and they can wither a bit if there is a lack of interest and new people constantly coming on board.

We really need to hear from Dan more often. He seemed to be proud of what he created with the Yard, and I have always been proud to be a part of it. It doesn't take much time for a few posts here; let us hear from you more often Dan!

Especially since there is no Yard forum over on BF. In all fairness, I follow a few knife makers and everyone is going nuts getting ready for Blade. Most have slowed way down on postings.

One thing I will say is that sometimes it's a harder to keep up on forums when you gotta go to blade and check a few, then the swamp and the yard.
