IF you've been living under a rock - 05/05/15 02:46 AM

You might not have heard the news. Well Jerry says
"Here's a sneak peek at our upcoming ad in BLADE magazine!"

[Linked Image from farm8.staticflickr.com]

AND he also said this, on another Blade Forum wink

In 2001, right after the attack on September 11th, we built the first and only Busse Combat blades ever made out of SR-101.

In the 14 years since then, we have been inundated by police and military units with requests for more Busse designs to be made out of this material due primarily to its now legendary performance characteristics and price advantage.

We have always planned on doing this but have been continuously restricted by our insatiable need to drink too much . . . errrr. . . . I mean restricted by our manufacturing capabilities.

Now, with greatly increased production capabilities at our Wauseon, Ohio shop we are proud to announce that the time has finally arrived!

As part of our new “Operation 2 weeks” we will be offering some new, and some classic Busse designs in this high performance, high value category.

The first blade to be offered in this series will be a “Battle Grade ASH 1”.

These Battle Grade models will be run in very limited numbers and will not be offered again for at least another year or two . . . or maybe never. To start with, these models will only be offered for approximately “2 weeks”. All of the above is subject to change, but that is the plan as of right now.

So stay tuned for the launch of the “Battle Grade”.

Let's Drink!

Jerry

A long, long time ago I was able to buy a Custom Camo finish Natural Outlaw via an extravaganza. It was at a great price, but, still expensive to me. Unfortunately I ended up moving it for another knife (yeah, I know, kick me later). That said, Busse knives have always been out of my price range and now more then ever (didn't have three kids back then). However, depending on price this one looks very promising. The only question will be if I have the funding during the two week period it is released.

rgc, if you don't, call the girls and ask if you can make a down payment and pay the rest when it's ready. There are only two possible answers. I don't know their policy on things like this but I DO KNOW if they can help they will do their best.

Randy, over two years ago there was an ad in Blade that one of the Anniversary releases will be a CG Ratweiler....

WOW! I hope it doesn't take that long this time. But then again, after spending a grand I might not be getting much for a while. Oh well, it's for the Wife (and to me to a lesser degree), so It's worth it.

Yeah but the CG Ratweiler was advertised and it was up in the store for a bit. Some people placed orders before it was taken down (not me, I was late).

The chain's a gettin' yank all over the world! The B8 comes out after four years, CG Ratweiler up for sale, orders placed - and goes AWOL. MountainMandu appears out of the blue. Earthquakes near the shop. What pray tell is goin' to happen next, you reckon?

If you were living under a rock... then lift it up and look for all the pennies that might be there, you'll need them sooner or later wink

Re: IF you've been living under a rock - 05/11/15 05:42 PM

I love my INFI Skinny and Coated LE ASH-1s. I'm intrigued by a SR101 ASH, but wonder what it brings to the table.

I'd prefer to see a re-release of 0.22" ASH-1 coated LEs with scales options. Its one of Busse's top sought after knives, and I would be glad to lose value in my four just to have the option of buying new ones in color combos I'd prefer.

I misspoke. I'm down to three. I sold one last year (sorry Andy).

It brings cash to the table. Busse Battle Grade will now be entry level Busse. Not sure what will happen to the Swamp though, theres speculation that they will start using SR77 as Dan is now using 5160.
Of course none of these blades has actually been released and theres zero communication in the Swamp and little from Dan lately

PS. I don't actually own a Busse (just Swamp and Yard), but now I should be able to

Re: IF you've been living under a rock - 05/11/15 10:05 PM

MM,
INFI is great steel (for bombproof hard use choppers). I don't see a reason to pay for the Busse name on SR77 or SR101 though. The best excuse is to have another ASH, but honestly I'm not sure it would be worth the premium "BUSSE" etching will fetch.

I've had over 200 Busse, Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat (probably closer to 250).

Busse INFI is great for choppers.
ScrapYard SR77 is great for choppers.
Swamp Rat SR101 is great for everything else.

As a user / non-collector I don't have interest in anything else.

The Busse Battle Grade is supposed to be lower priced, hopefully around what the Swamp charges. So shouldn't be paying too much for the name. If it is much higher priced than a comparable sized blade from SW then I will reconsider purchasing it.

My SR101 1311 is my favorite yard work blade, I use it much more than my cgDF. I don't get to camp much anymore, but I still chop Palm trees and other larger sized shrubbery. The Busse sr101 has yet to let me down.
