What is the furthest you traveled with a Busse Kin knife?

450 miles. From Southeast Missouri to the Smoky Mountains.

Oh and back of course. Sheesh, sometimes you got to be specific for SOME people. wink

530 miles and back, from S/W Missouri to Joliet Illinois. When I went to Alaska in 1990 I took an A.G. Russel; didn't own any Bussekin blades back then.

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 04/30/20 04:39 AM

I have carried a Butterfly knife through Tokoyo and Honolulu airports 8 times IN MY POCKET. Does that count? Of course this was in the LATE 80's. Only got "questioned" once. Japanese Customs indicated he wanted me to "Play" with it. I did a couple flips and he was all smiles and gave it back to me and on the plane I went. Of course being in the Air Force at the time might have helped.

IF I would have had one I think that I would have carried a Scrapivore or a Swamp Warden. Those are two nice little blades but I find myself leaning towards the paracord wrapped warden the most. Now IF my Cupidvore was a left hand model that is the one I would carry in my pocket. The right handed ones will bite into your hand if you are a righty. Should have gotten the lefty versions. Oh well, live and learn.

I always take a BKK with me. I keep a Scrapivore and Regulator in My truck and I usually carry an HRLM on my Belt in the backcountry. And a War Dog or RMD is always in one of my packs. So the farthest is roughly 1,000 miles. Colorado To Glacier National park Montana into Canada.

Since the original post was about travelling with a Busse knife I didn't mention the Case Bowie I brought home from VietNam. smile

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 04/30/20 06:22 PM

Now THAT would be a special knife Tom. Not to mention that case is one of the all time classic bowie blades. Now if Dan would just make one with the same specs, but with a large basic, or maybe even a Dreg handle.

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 04/30/20 06:23 PM

I would think that around a 10K one way trip wins you the prize Tom, even if it wasn't a Bussekin blade. I mean they weren't even in business then, so how could you carry one. I think that the Bullreg would be a nice blade for something like that.

So they are users.

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/12/20 10:38 PM

I carried a SAK from NY to Taiwan, and a different one from DC to Shanghai, then to Hong Kong, off to Cairns and then Sydney Australia, back to Shanghai, Beijing, Xi'an, Guilin, and eventually back to DC. Am I on the board?

I couldn't take any sort of fixed blade, since they are illegal to carry in China frown

Drove from the arctic to eastern Canada with a Dog Father under the driver's seat. Darn useful tool to have! Second only to the jerry cans of fuel given the unreliable state of gas stations in some areas... laugh

About 4400 miles of wheeling, give or take

Now THAT was a long DRIVE!

About 4,000 miles more than I like to drive! smile

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/15/20 03:43 AM

Before my assignment got cancelled I was going to drive from Idaho (about 50 miles Southeast of Boise) to Anchorage. If memory serves, I think that Alcan is what, 2200 miles all by it's lonesome.

My trip would have been in 1981

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/16/20 05:18 AM

They used to suggest taking an extra set of tires along with emergency gear in case you broke down; help wasn't always just a few minutes away. The road was THAT bad.

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/16/20 05:36 AM

Oh yeah, there was a book called I THINK the Milepost. Gave a breakdown of all the services, or lack thereof, along the entire length of the road. I actually bought one and man it was almost scary. But as I said my follow on assignment from Idaho to Anchorage got cancelled. But the book was still very interesting reading.
Posted By: Private Klink

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/16/20 12:39 PM

I bought a copy of the Milepost when I was planning on our Alaskan visit in 1990. It IS interesting reading with a lot of good information. Oh, we FLEW from Chicago to Anchorage where we were met by the General's uncle. smile

You turn left at mile 148 to get to the area of Pink Mountain that I hunt

I WAS going to be stationed at Anchorage before It got cancelled and boy was I disappointed. But with my luck I would have got eaten by a Grizzly or Brown bear or fallen in the Ocean and got chomped by a Great White! OK, maybe not a Great White, but at least a Killer Whale.

I think all those animals know better than to chomp on a redneck. It’s hard to wash that taste out of your mouth! Sorry, was that too harsh? My back is killing me today and I still have some more yard work to do.

Nah, it's all good. Them knowing not to mess with us is a GOOD thing. Thanks Ray I hadn't thought of that. Actually it's a nice compliment.

Now you will probably have to go to the ER cause you gave an Redneck a compliment. I wonder if your insurance will cover Redneckitis? grin

Yes, maybe he strained his back while checking his wife's work. LOL smile

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/19/20 01:34 PM

Randy is correct. I didn’t actually DO the work. But we are putting together a fancy, raised bed wooden structure. It’s amazing that my wife can’t figure out how to use a simple Milwaukee drill. She keeps pressing the reverse button before she drives a screw. I think she is doing it on purpose. But I managed to get her to put together half of it and we we finish it today.

I carried a NO-e daily in the glovebox of my rock truck six days a week, not sure how far it was but it took about 4 hours each way. grin

That's a fair amount of driving EVERY day. Glad nothing bad happened.

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/24/20 03:14 AM

NOT A BKK, and NOT actually me. BUT a SAK Tinkerer bought for me IN Switzerland and with my First Name engraved on it. Our EX neighbor lady got it for me one time when she toured Europe for 2 or 3 weeks with a tour group.
Posted By: SkunkHunter

Re: What is The Furthest You Traveled With BKK - 05/24/20 03:18 AM

AS far as a BKK blade, I would have to say about 600 miles one way, total 1200 round trip from here to Cherokee N.C. and around there and Up to Ashville and back home. I had a 911 and a Wardog. Oh and can't forget a 45. Does that count as part of the loadout. That's where I carried my Malaga for the first time. Pretty comfortable but I had it loaded to heavy for a single strap "pack".
