One Door Closes and A New One Opens - 10/13/22 11:35 PM

Dogs

SR-101 has left the building so to speak. When current models run out and inventory is exhausted, we will no longer, for the foreseeable future, be offering SR-101 steel for our blades. It has served us well and has set new standards that others must be measured by.

There will be a "One Last Hurrah" offer this Sunday night 10-16-2022 at 9:00 PM Eastern for finished SYKCO models in SR-101.

There are a number of Swamp Rat models in SR-101 that are still in process but are a long way from being finished.

There are NO new SYKCO models in process in SR-101.

Click on this link to get more insight on the SR-101 decision, https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/we-bid-farewell-to-sr-101-steel.1895216/

While this is sad, I can tell you that we have done extensive testing of different steels, heat treating processes and machining operations.

The brutality used in the quality testing process may have been over the top even for us. All of this is to ensure the Performance-To-Price Ratio remains as the gold standard in the knife industry.

Having the best warranty along with the most satisfied customers is what sets us apart.

These are exciting times and being the knife enthusiast that I know you to be will prove that your past decisions were spot on as your future decision will do likewise.

Sad to hear after buying so many knives over the last twenty years, but I'm anxious to see what steel will be next. I know that Carothers has been doing a stellar business with their Delta 3V protocol, so I'm ready to see what steel Busse decides upon.

"Price to performance" rules the day ! smile

I can almost picture Dan reciting those lines while holding a skeletonized version of an SR-101 knife. smile smile

Dan, take comfort in knowing that our SR-101 knives will be around for a LONG time. ::) My son and son in law, as well as their sons will be using Bussekin SR-101 knives during their lives.

Now that there’s is over, we need a good bushcrafter. Say 5 inch blade with at least 4.5 inches of cutting edge and maybe .110-115 inch thick.

Don’t get me wrong, but the S5 seems just a tad thick. Other than that I love it!

Do I “need” a bushcrafter, no, but one from the yard would be nice. Maybe take a look see about reworking the 621 over a bit.

wow I'll miss you 101...

"Farewell, 101, king of steel, whose long and faithful service to those who knew you won't forget! Your spirit lingers on in the cutting and chopping places of our lives. May your steel descendants ever flourish and your human friends find solace for the loss they have sustained." (Harry Potter modified Eulogy)

I wanted another WS-621, but the 3.75 inch blade is just to short for me (got a 621 and 2 1020s).

I’m gonna have to hold out for something 4.5-5 inch range and about .115-.120 inch thick with a drop point. Everything has gone up but our Gubberment checks!

NOW, I wish I had bought a Scrapmax 460 (or two) as well. But the wife liked the shorter version for a paring knife. frown

You don't reach new heights by sitting on the same mountain peak.
Sad to see SR-101 go, but excited to see how new steel performs.
