note: Scrapper 6 CG price is the normal price, not the introduction price.

Dan needs to be careful breaking the $200 'ceiling' even for that monster.. The thing about yard is 'bang for the buck'- any more than $189.99 to $199.99 would be pushing it imho.

Since nobody guessed $229.95 on the last poll, that must be the answer! He had to hire Samurai sword polishers, the laid off Camillus workers wanted health care benefits, and their Union scale is high. The Chinese offered do the whole knife for $40.00 wholesale, but in 420J2. Nah! I am just guessing that since it is taking a lot of hand finishing, the price might break the $200 ceiling.

Yup!... I agree about the "price-limit"... The New Rat Mastiff (offered up by Swamp Rat) will be something like $218.95, IIRC... Having the DFLE the same priced (and especially higher) might throw SEVERAL "faithful buyers" over the fence, into the swamp and talking to Eric "The Bully" Issacson....

If Dog Father LE and Rat Mastiff were priced similar.. what would you choose?

Rat Mastiff has some neat things going for it. Really dig that unique (micarta) handle shape, SR-101 steel, plus i don't own any SwampRat choppers yet!

I didn't think of that. Maybe y'all are right. Personally, I'd take the DFLE over the Rat Mastiff. Will the Mastiff have a satin blade? I like Res C in big choppers. Micarta Handles like the Fusion Blister Maker are more for show than performance. The smooth, but not as pretty, micarta handles on the RTAK II makes more sense to me. I hope the DFLE is < $200.

I’d get the DFLE. I already have an original RM. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> If I didn’t though, I’d still get the DFLE. I use my BR MUCH more than my RM. Those shocking handle vibrations are painful and numb your hand after a while. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />

And I figure a nice big thick blade like the DFLE is a good first choice. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Usually I like coated because they’re lower maintance, but an uncoated blade chops better with less drag. And I thought the logo would look cool on a big bad blade like the DF, and ya gotta get the LE to get the logo.

As Dan has mentioned, it's taking A LOT of time to polish those blades and time is money. I don't see how it could sell for under $200. I'm guessing $220-$240, and it's a steal at that price. I'm getting one.

That's how I see it too, Rich. All American or European made knives with polished blades are getting expensive. It is the hand labor.

I think I like the CG. I can't wait to see pictures of the DFLE though.

I let my brother abuse the DF a little this weekend - he really liked it. I can't wait until the CG's are offered again - my dad and bro want one, and I think I'll get another one. If the LE's are only another $30-40, I'll get one of those instead. I care much more about function than looks though. But - I'm not a "collector" from an investment standpoint (although I may end up selling my CGFBM one of these days).
