The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swamprat who will win

The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swamprat who will win - 10/09/07 10:33 PM

Eric is hinting that the Swamprat store will soon have new Ratweilers for sale, damnit my wallet can't take this. 2 blades I wouldn't be able to refuse would be the Dogfather or the Ratweiller, it is going to come down to who gets it in first.

Re: The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swamprat who will win - 10/09/07 10:38 PM

I do not have a big swamp rat. I do have a Dog Father. If by some miracle, the DFLE is ready first, I'll get it. But, other than that, I would get the Ratweiler.

They'll probably both be released on the same credit card billing cycle, and in limited enough quantities that you can't put off either purchase!

Considering what I saw in Jerry's pics I think the answer is obvious SRK, unless Dan's got a cool shiney DF rabbit hiding in his hat... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Re: The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swamprat who will win - 10/09/07 10:40 PM

The thing that is going to kill me is I could get both the DFLE and Urban mutt for the same price as the Ratweiller, but I really want one of those bad, especially if they release the muddy version

I would wager 25:1 that there is no DF blade of any sort before the RW skims the cream... although I'm using common logic. The Family tends to use uncommon logic in their marketing plans.

My money is on those 'dirty rats'! Just the name 'Ratweiler' nearly gets my money.. BUT Dan's knives have the better handles and one day a S7 or S9 will come... probably, maybe.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/banghead.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Unfortunately you may be right which would leave me with an aweful dilema although in the past the Swamprats seem to release first thing in the morning, whereas from what I hear here Dan prefers evening release so it is all going to come down to who is out first cause I am going to pounce like a cat if I am lucky enough to be online when it goes down.

I really don't know why I want a Ratweiler. I guess its just to have a big Swamp Rat. I already know that Res C is a superior handle for choppers. Now if an S9 and Ratweiler came out at the same time, I might just go with the S9.

Re: The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swamprat who will - 10/09/07 11:48 PM

i know that the ratweiler was my knife of choice when i didn't have a choice. if it came out with the dfle, and the price wasn't too high, i'd go with the rat. that's not really fair because i don't plan to get the dfle. however, at the same time as the scrapper 7...tough call. it would be one or the other, though. that's about certain.

where are these pics and hints you boys refer to?

Re: The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swam who will win - 10/10/07 02:48 AM

I voted for Dan Busse.

He deserves to be first and that is that. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Tired of being treated like a second class knife manufacturing company.

Dan and Patti have consistently turned out First Class blades at Boker prices.

Hard to believe that we have waited almost six months for a new blade to be released.
I have a real good feeling that when the remake of a one time release
knife "The Mutt" has been done that Dan will dazzle us with new colors, new SHINY steel and never before released models for us to snarl and snap at each other over! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

The Yard will take off in a stellar direction with never before seen steel, colors and shapes to drive all of us so crazy that we will have N O T H I N G else to talk about other than the blades and their GODLY performance! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

And all of this before Christmas with no doubt in my mind at all. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

Sweet Christmas this year. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

Honey... I want a Scrap Yard Christmas please. NOTHING else. Just Scrap Yard.

And woe to the landscape in Wisconsin when the thaw comes in April. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Yummy!!!

Peace.

And I think that the wait will soon come to an end Bruce! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Dan has announced a new model and made references to an increase in production area and time in Wauseon which can only bode well for us!

I am a firm believer in being a realist, however a small dose of optimist cannot hurt!

Re: The race is on, Scrapyard vs Swam who will win - 10/10/07 04:51 AM

We will see, truthfully what I see happening is Dan will release the DMLE and promise more, I suspect Swamprat will release at least 2 blades, the shaker and ratweiller and the market will go nuts, whereas if Dan released a DFLE it would do the same but I fear his first and only offering at this time will be the DM. Yes Dan and Patti make quality blades but you can't call use the word consistant and 6 months in the same sentance. Especially when Swamprat has released several blades in the same time frame IMHO

He has referenced a number of things vaguely. He was quite direct about the production information.

Lets see what next week brings for the Yard!

I want a new scrap yard blade at least as much as the next dog. Being downcast about the situation isn't going to improve anything around here.

I think this extended dry spell of SY steel is about to end. With the big military orders done and a new building for increased production, I think all Busses, including SYKCO, will be coming at us fast and furious.

There's nothing vague about "three weeks", CO.

yes there is. in Busse time, two weeks (or three weeks) is a variable, like X, which can represent any indefinite amount of time, and will remain uncertain and in constant flux even as its definition is thought to be understood.

I am "optimistic" that we will get some sort of "Scraps" .... "Sometime" AFTER Knob Creek...... don't know what, don't really know when and don't know how many of whatever .... (???) ..... so for whatever that's all worth.

That is about the extent of my optimism anymore.

As for my part in being a realist, I am sure something will happen eventually. But, with all of the mis-information and lack of relevant info, we still don't know when or what.
Three weeks / two weeks ..... bah .... all meaningless at this point. Sorry, that is just the reality.

But, in reference to the extended dry spell about to end vs. military orders being "DONE", don't overlook that Knob Creek is right outside of Fort Knox Military reservation for a REASON!!!

At this point, I am very confident all of this "Wall of Infi" stuff is just a teaser (carrot on a stick) for us on the web to hold our interest and ultimately is obviously intended to be used to gain military interest - not just offerings at a show.

Busse has higher business aspirations right now than web-stuff. Web-stuff appears to have been demoted to a side marketing venture at best.

If it doesn't sell at Knob Creek, I am very sure the remains will be offered on the internet. And I am fairly confident there will be some scraps.... at least scraps of high priced INFI.
There will undoubtedly be a KnobCreek-Ganzaaaa in two/three/"few" weeks to sell the leftover Infi scraps.

I assume there are more Scrap Yard knives than were shown on the wall (?????), but on the wall, there were only about 10 or so Res-C handled knives. And about 10 or so of what appeared to be the new Ratweiler.
I doubt they will have any problems selling 10 Ratweilers and 10 Res-C handled knives at Knob Creek.

But, there were hundreds of Infi pieces..... That should tell us something about priorities.
However, I "kind of" doubt they would go to Knob Creek with such a small representation from Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard. There is probably more being made or stashed somewhere else (?????).

.... Or, Supply and Demand could be at hand. If INFI is in such high demand at high prices, why would Jerry care to waste time with Scrap Yard and Swamp Rat?
We don't really know.

Because of Military influence, I get the impression that Knob Creek has become a close 2nd to Blade for the Busse clan.

In any event, we are just a bunch of stray mangy alley dogs hoping and waiting for some scraps to be thrown out to the dumpster...... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

If you want to assure yourself of getting something, you probably should be at Knob Creek. - early.... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />
.... for me, that is only about 30 hours on the road round trip and about $300 - $400 in gas. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Personally, I am "trying" not to stress about it. Maybe I will get something... I don't know. I don't know what will ultimately be offered or when. But, I don't have the funds to play hurry up and snag all of this at once - now or never - games.

..... good luck.

I guess I have a hard time holding my breath and sitting around waiting for the unknown.
I like Swamp Rat and Scrap Yard, but I have a long wish list of knives and only so much available for knife purchases. I HAVE to look for good "deals". And I keep finding good "Deals" ..... um ....... [color:"#666666"] elsewhere [/color] . <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

If Swamp Rat puts the Rattweiler up on the company store website, I will order one. If they're only available by going to a knife and gun show or by participating in a 'Ganza, I'll pass.

Same for Scrapyard and their next offering.

I just want to go to a website and order a [censored] knife. The show-only models and Ganza specials are ridiculous IMO, especially when people buy 15 of each one only to scalp on eBay the next day. This topic has been beaten to death already, so I'll just leave it at that.

... Sniff... Sniff... That may be the nicest... thing.. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

... But, I try to call things like I see them. I try to give credit where credit is due. Swamp Rat, Scrap Yard, Busse and whoever deserves it.

Conversely, I do have "opinions" and I probably share some of my criticism too often. But, I know when it is just my opinion.

I try to be fair and objective.

.... sometimes I manage to hold my tongue. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I love this company and it's family and this great forum and associated family.

However, I have honestly been a little frustrated lately about a few things and I am sure some of my comments have shown this. So, I don't expect any honors or accolades.

I did manage to hold my tongue about a week ago... that was impressive. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Luckily, MANY people stepped up and made comments that fairly well expressed how I felt. I particularly liked Rooikat's statments.
I think it is great that so many people stepped up to preserve the many great aspects of this forum! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bowdown.gif" alt="" />

This is a great place to hang out. I spend way too much time here and I constantly feel guilty about not focusing more of my time doing other things I feel I should be doing... But, I like posting here because there are good people here.

I hope this forum stays the way it has been!

.

In any event, I consider your comment a compliment!
