You asked for them and now you've got them!

Here are some random pics of the destructive testing being done to the Dog Father. Check out the edge on this Monster Dog after chopping on a concrete block for nearly 10 minutes! SR-77 really shines! The rope cutting came as a big surprise to everyone with the high number of cuts made!!! Wow!

I may not sell any of these blades because I want to keep them all for myself!

You know even with the thought of the DF going brown with rust and being a heavy lump of steel to hump around the cuds- those pics still make me think perhaps my brilliant Tram Bolo may need an upgrade...

Dan how much does the DF weigh in grams please??

How true. My sailboat seems to be a hodgepodge of SAE, Metric, and British Imperial measurements. My water tank is in US gallons, however the fuel tank is in Imperial gallons. The exterior rigging and deck hardware is in SAE measurements, but the engine and transmission are in metric. Go figure!

Not only that, but it probably measures speed in nautical miles per hour. My personal favorite is furlongs per fortnight.

Rich it sounds like you have heard of the British 'Royal Mail' postal service! They do furlongs per fortnight if they are feeling industrious!!

My personal favorite is furlongs per fortnight.
1 f/f is almost exactly equal to 1 centimeter per minute; therefore, furlongs per fortnight would be a good unit of measurement for a snail’s pace, which ranges from a bit less than 1 f/f to about 30.5 f/f.

generic terms 1/8th mile every 14 days

It's selectable. I can go knots/hour or miles per hour. On the Great Lakes, and down the Intracostal Waterway everything is expressed in miles in terms of distance, speed etc.... On the open ocean it's done in knots. What really throws me is when they express distance/speed in terms of cables.

You should get 250,000 miles out of it before the timing belt goes. other than that maybe A couple oem brake pad sets. and tires. Still you can't come close to the japanese made yotas. had a 91 celica, rsx type s an (acura) and now toyota tacoma TRD. Quality has dropped the more American parts we put in these things. Good news is they are still better than the major three. Now bout them knives...............

Re: Preliminary Testing Pics Of The Dog Father ! ! - 01/21/07 12:45 AM

Corrosion is a problem that is easy to beat and I cannot understand why so many people make it sound like a show stopper. There are plenty of great corrosion prevention products on the market, any of them will keep your sr77 (or any other carbon steel blade) shiny and pretty for a long time to come.

With the res-C handles at least the rust can't eat the tang (out of sight) on these knives. My Kabar tang broke that way mostly...

Renwax seems a popular choice any other good ones?

Re: Preliminary Testing Pics Of The Dog Father ! ! - 01/22/07 04:09 AM

2wD and a decent winch is better than 4WD 95% of the time. Less moving parts means less to break. These jap cars are nice as much as I like 5.0's and my 65 ford
my moms 03 honda SIR is way faster, handles better, stops on a dime and is comfy and hauls as much gear as a mini van, it even gets decent mileage.

I am going to try some Briwax, I have always wanted to try renwax but the price and difficulty finding it put me off. Thanks guys.

It looks great. I was really impressed after I saw what my SR77 Hawk did. Dunno if I’ll get one though…how many similar sized nearly indestructable knives do you need? (All of them? ) It’s pretty similar in size/style to my BR, and I’ve not had any problems with it, so I dunno that I really need anything “tougher”. I’m trying to save for a new PDA phone, and I also would like to get a new gun. I only make like $50 a week or so, so it takes a long time for me to save up for stuff I want. The majority of everything I’ve made in the past year has gone to purchase Rats. And I still need to come up with the $ for my SS4 that's being held for me. It’d be nice to have some cash for something else besides knives.
