Scrap Yard Knives has grown well beyond our expectations. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> This growth has led us to make a very big change in our lives. Patti and I are packing up our family and moving our business to Ohio! Making monthly trips to the dumpster in Wauseon is wearing thin and getting the opportunity to be closer to the rest of our family is very exciting.

Keeping the "price to performance ratio" as the cornerstone of our philosophy is paramount and this move to Ohio will insure that it remains at the helm of our business model. We will be able to greatly increase our production and this move will give us around the clock access to the dumpster! We have numerous Scrap Yard irons in the fire at this time and we need to be closer to the shop in Ohio in order to best facilitate this growth.

So, please be patient while we relocate to the other side of the country, (the cold side) and know that this move will mean more blades and better service from the Yard.

Here's to the Yard, we ALWAYS drink to the Yard!

Moving Tip:

Moving to Ohio! I feel a shift in the Earth's gravitational field!! That's a bunch of steel in one place, hell, that's a bunch of Busse in one place!!!! That shift seems to be pulling a flood of JWB towards the swamps of Ohio!!!

Miss the heat! Fat chance. Give me Arizona dry heat over Ohio's muggy dank wet summer heat any day of the week. Twice on Sundays.

There are sort of compensations. Fireflies and thunderstorms give a nice show. But the heat? It makes you long for winter. Until Winter makes you long for summer.

Dan is sacrificing a lot to give us better price to performance knives by moving close to the source.

Sounds like a good business decision, Dan. If Jerry's pile of steel is too heavy to move to Texas, move to the steel pile! With all the loss of manufacturing jobs in Ohio, I am so happy for your American family's business success. More production means more knives for us and even more success for you. I second this! But I am toasting a Coors Light at 10:05am to this post! I am glad that this means more knives Dan. It took about all I had to wait and wait for a Dog.... I FINALLY got one today through the kindness and brotherhood of another American soldier's good heartedness. All I am saying is this... Make more knives and make them more available, like the Swamp <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />, and I will be buying nothing but Dogs. Im hooked!!!! MORE KNIVES!!!!!!!

I keep telling my wife Ohio is the place <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. I moved across the river to WV when we got married about 8 years ago. I work in Steubenville so at least I go back to OH everyday. Hope your move goes smoothly and you're heading to a decent area.

Just kidding, rs. Jerry would never do that. Too much steel to move! I think it will improve the whole operation for SY knives, but I know what a hassle moving is.

Congrats! This is good news for me too. Because when I’m “back home again, in Indiana” that’s less distance for my knives to ship so I’ll get them quicker. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> Maybe you guys could make it to Knob Creek or the 1500 sometime since you’ll be closer. Dear Dan and Patti.

As one who recently was forced to move let me pass on my moving wisdom to you.
You know those Dumpsters you spend too much time in...???

Rent a 10 Yard dumpster and have it dropped in your driveway!

And yes.... if you haven't used it since the last move... you really do NOT need it! Chuck it!

We ended up filling 2x10 yard Dumpsters Dan when we moved for Christmas. That is a smart thing for us to share with you. And NO Dumpster diving!!! Once in the Dumpster...it stays in the trash!

Have a great move you guys. We will be saying prayers for a quick sale of your home in Spring and a wonderful reunion with your family in Ohio.

May this move be the last until retirement too!


Boy when you release that new SR-77 3 inch Blade it will sure be worth all the wait too! Or was that a SR-77 Necker I wanted next?

i'm hopefull for what this means for scrapyard knives in the long run. in the short run, Dan is moving, will have to get his family set up in the new place. We all know what a chore that can be. After that get an office set up and organized. I unfortunately think in might be 2weeks x2 atleast before we see any new steel.
