My 2nd Scrap Yard - 07/29/08 05:05 AM

I'm going to preface this post by saying that the pictures aren't up to what I like but I wanted to show something...

Anyway:

I got my second Scrap Yard today! A second DCDM that I got for my wife! She absolutely loves it and it is her first real type of knife, ever! She's never had a knife. She thought it was "So cool" and she was 100% surprised.

This DCDM is a sister to mine - pictured on top:

A second, close-up:

Now to the "point" of the post. If you look closely, the two knives have different grinds and shape at the sweep of the knife. Understand this - I AM NOT COMPLAINING! I think it's cool that the knives have two different shapes. Length and handling are exactly the same.

Take a closer look:

My wife ended up liking the bottom knife with the "pointy-er" sweep and tip - so, I let her have it (the one I posted as my My First Scrap Yard )

The top one is now mine. I think it's cool - almost like two different knives but the same <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
Maybe I'll have to find a third for comparison - I can always say it's for my son when he grows up. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I'll get some better pics up of these two Mutts when I can get outside and get some good light. Again, sorry about the poor quality pics.

My wife is excited about it and wants to learn some knife skills and we have to get her a sheath.

hmmm.
I've actually never seen that before.
that almost looks a little too drastic...
might be a lookover.
but if you like i t, I'd say keep it!

Cool stuff! Neat to see the differences that come from hand grinding knives. I like the bottom one myself. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /><img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

Re: My 2nd Scrap Yard - 07/29/08 05:22 AM

Congrats!

But be careful....once she gets the knife bug none of your knives are safe!!!

For proof I offer this.

Q: How many Kershaw knives has Heavy bought?

A: Near about 10.

Q: How many does Heavy own?

A: Zero.

Where pray tell are all the Kershaws?

You figure it out....

I think I really do too, but if it's the one she likes, she can have it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Besides, I can always "borrow" it... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Although Heavy, using Kershaws as bait knives while you sneak the Infi in the door sounds like a good plan... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Ha! I'm sorry for you.

She's getting interested in hiking/camping and other things so I can support her and it will be cool for all of us to go out together. My son is 3 1/2 and just needs to get a little bigger but I have found a place where we are going to start out.

It is exciting.

The bottom one seems to be Scrapper 6 like.

I just looked at Shaolin's post about his Scrapper 6 and compairing the blade profile to the Scrapper 6 in his pic, it is almost dead on. The bottom of the choil is Dumpster Mutt profile but the blade does look close to the Scrapper 6.

Is it possible that a Scrapper 6 got profiled and fitted to the Double Cut Dumpster Mutt specs?

This is cool.

Yeah, my S6 does remind me alot of my DMCG even, it's just bigger and a slightly different point.

Will do - you too, Sir!

I've got an interesting weekend ahead of me for sure - I'll be working during the Hell's Angels Annual Rally here (in Mongols territory). I'm sure it'll get good and crazy!

Oh what fun, getting between the Angels and Mongols. The Angels are big up in SC, but a few have been seen in Savannah lately, and GA is Outlaws country. Never could understand why all these clubs which are so similar hate each other so much. I guess it's just turf battles over their "business franchises". Be careful, Dice.

Will do Vic! I'm in good hands - there is a great crew of full time guys taking care of me and showing me the ropes.

I guess the last time H.A. held an annual rally here (really not long ago - 6 years maybe?), all of the problems were caused by the "village idiots" (university students) who were just going berserk in response to the "environment" created by the presence of the gangs - rather than the bikers themselves. Lots of macho men strutting around. We actually watched a lot of video footage from the last rally in one of my Criminology classes at the University - quite interesting.

Sorry for hijack there, CMDR!

For the same reason that Swedes can’t get along with Norwegians.

If you don’t believe me go to a bar where both nationalities drink, and start singing “Ten thousand Swedes…” Then duck.

For the same reason that (certain) Chinese can't get along with the Japanese [Linked Image from candlepowerforums.com], (certain) Jews can't get along with Muslims [Linked Image from candlepowerforums.com] and why I prefer fixed blades to folders [Linked Image from candlepowerforums.com] .

Great comparison.
It brings up all sorts of questions. It looks like you may have a one-of-a-kind.

Re: My 2nd Scrap Yard - 08/01/08 09:54 AM

I prefer the traditional DMDC blade pattern over the Scrapper 6 clipped DMDC <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> .
