Sheaths!!!!

I made mention of a sheath David from Kytac made up for me in the survival forum but I didn't have any pictures of it, well here there are.







as you can see it's made incredibly well, the kydex used is stout, and the fit is amazing, and adjustable even if it wasn't.

I thought this was worth noting, this is the sheath from the Ratwieler with my CE SARsquatch in it


it's not a perfect fit but it'll do the job if you happen to have laying around like I did.

Next up is a little project I'm working on, I'm calling it the DMCGUSP(dumpster mutt combat grad ultimate survival package)
I plan on building a sheath mounted possibles pouch, adding a small thin fixed blade(I'm thinking BRKT micro canadian or such) firesteel mount on the outside of the sheath for ease of access. And we'll see what else I dream up!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />




I got the webbing and the grommets, and plastic stuff at my local REI.

I made it highly adjustable for ride height, or I would be able to hack off some of that bright orange web and leave it on my backtrail if temporarily dissoriented.

I'm thinking of getting a sewing maching because there have been many, many times where I thought to myself, "man that would be cool"

If anybody has any ideas to improve on what I have please share.

If it is to be a survival rig how about using something like a SAK in place of the small thin fixed blade? If you chose the right SAK you would be carrying many other very useable tools(as well as a small thin blade) for a variety of situations you might find yourself in. One thing that SAKs also excel at is working on or helping to alter(think awl with sewing eye) your survival gear/clothing should you need to in order to adapt to the environment you are in. Something along the lines of a One-Hand Trekker or any number of the smaller 91mm multi-layered SAKs. I would also put a few Ranger bands around the sheath itself. They can come in very handy for lots of things and don't take up much space. Oh yeah, maybe a little extra paracord wrapped around somewhere.

I love the micro canadian but that Swarden and sheath you have would fit right
on top of the DMCG or around you neck. I could see wanting an even thinner sharper scalpel type blade. I have also considered a Buck hartsook in S30V for that.
Next time I go to the big city (Saskatoon) I plan to grab a Hartsook and a CS Trailhawk.

sorry I've been slacking with pics, I put together a survival possibles pouch completely out of stuff I had around my place, an old camera pouch, and then a bunch of extras, I just need a way to mount it securely.
I'm also not sure I like how fat the pouch I have is, but we'll see.
and I'll see about getting pictures of it and pocket kit up this weekend
