either a stripping and convexing, or chop off.

chopoff, then modding, then another chopoff with the stripped and convex mods added.

You're probably right, but remember the pictures he posted of the cookout with his lady friend? Vic has been on the forum just a little less since then

He may have found someone better than us to spend some of his free time with

I have been very busy sanding the roughness on my Busse Skinny ASH-1. I have a pile of INFI dust. Now it is an anorexic ASH-1. Looks better and cuts better.

Thanks. Been working the edge. 6.5" of full convex INFI. Just plain evil.

Nice job on that knife. I think it looks way better than it originally did.
Oh, and nice choice on that handle color.

that's the sickest ASH mod i've ever seen, including those from the ohio custom shop.

Certainly the sharpest.....looking forward to HD's test on this one....maybe with some special tests to show what it can do and lot's of pic's....and on that pleasent note....I should be into "Mutt"dom....sounds much better than Pooch!

I don't know. I think I prefer the Scotchbrite finish like on my other Busses. I do like the full convex grind, though. Back to the buffer before it gets too dark.

There. I like that satin finish better.

I buffed the spine and tang edges, too.

It ain't no LE, but I like it. Those INFI dimples on the rest of it can just stay there. I'm done.

Excellent work Vic. I am like you, I LOVE the full convex edges and that level of "scratch" satin finish on your last pic. If it is too shiny it has to be too perfect or else it shows flaws too much.

I wish I had time to get some of my project finished. .... some day.

Thanks, KG. It took me all day long! I have seen some of your excellent work. But I do understand, it takes time and dedication. And I agree, that shiny surface shows every little imperfection.

I love the mirror finish but it is not great for a user because it shows fingerprints and takes a long time to do. To actually get the surface FLAT and all the scratches gone to a 600 grit (I plan to get to 2000 eventually)on both sides of my SH-E took about 40 hours even with the bench grinder and dremel. You can take out a lot of the big scratches with the dremel but getting it flat is all hand sanding and believe me they are no where near flat to start with.

Here is a link to the method of polishing I use although I use the dremel to make parts faster.

I will try to get the hamon on the Desert jack to pop better and then take some photos.

The scotchbrite finish is really the cleverest finish for a nice user. It is good looking ,hides fingerprints and scratches well and is very easy to fix after a hard chopping session. Mercworx uses it on their very expensive blades.

Yes, I like a satin finish best....they are more user friendly....Infi seems to take perfect fingerprints when polished....which don't wipe off easily...I also think the Ash looks better with the Satin look....great looking finish HD.

Until I saw the pics, I didn't understand the reference to ScotchBrite, but now I get it. You using the different wheels on the bench grinder; that idea had never crossed my mind. Very cool HD!
