While I would love a big bowie, I voted for the mudder.
I have loved the mudder handle since i have had my bog dog. A more self defensiveishly designed blade with a mudder handle, as well as the magic of infi, would be cool beans.
Of course, I would buy the big bowie the second it was available, probably in LE version if offered.
The howling rats never did much for me.

I have been talking with a friend of mine who really REALLY knows a lot about blades and steel and epsilon carbides and all kinds of crazy knife-stuff, and he thought it was interesting that the Busse family would bring S7 (SR-77) into production, since it might be the one steel he felt could compete with INFI... i'd like to see that happen, personally -- bring on the SR-77 choppers!

Lame. Who made this poll software, Diebold? We want our SR-77 Bowie. I was going to say there's plenty of INFI out there already, but there isn't, which i suspect is part of the problem -- and it IS a problem. I have 3 INFI blades and 3 in S7 (2 being SR-77), and between two identical LARGE blades, like bowies, I would choose the SR-77 every time, even if it cost more, which of course it doesn't. I had a great,10"blade custom hunter awhile back,until someone decided they loved it more than me,and stole it...it was made in Germany,was probably about 50 years old,and hand forged from an old shipwrights file...still showed some of the teeth,and hammer marks!I've had a few good choppers,but they don't get the amount of love a good knife needs,so my vote is for an EDC blade,that'll get loved daily!!

In my personal opinion.

INFI is great all around small blade & chopper

SR 101 is good chopper, Yet better small blade at lest I can get it sharper and it will stay sharper than INFI.

SR77 ( It should be SY77 ) is S7 high impact tool steel. I'd like to see what it will do in a small blade, But I think its best role will be a BIG chopper. It may just top INFI as a chopper.

Well, I would hope Busse would put that out for the Hogs, at the same time I would hope that Scrap Yard would put out SR-77 just as Swamp Rat would make their SR101.

What does this Bowie look like? Like a 10" long Battle Rat?

If they are going to make a bowie I would like to see a 3/16" thick or less version and it would definatly need micarta scale. The reason I want thinner rather than thicker is simple;My BK 9 I owned would outchop my RatRaddy,RW and my FSH because of its thinner profile. The steel was no where near as good as INFI or SR 101 and there handle material sucked but I sure miss the ease of chopping it provided.
Any chance of a special run thin bowie with micarta :-)

No offense taken. The problem lies in the type of steel I would like to see used in my 3/16 in blade. Infi , or S7 from what I have read about it, would make a much better steel in a chopper than would the 0170-6c is used in the BK9.

ah- gotcha -- like the notion that with a tougher steel you can run the edge thinner for less cutting resistance at the same strength type of thing?

Exactly, read cliff stamps review on the BK9, there is very little flex in that blade but I like the thickness because of less resistance.

I don't want no stinkin micarta on my bowie, i like the shock absorbing resiprene. Besides, it would drive the cost up. Any of you dogs want big chopper with micarta handle, swamp rat will fill your needs.

I think I read a review of a BK that said they were short of lateral strength... I think Eric or Jerry will be your best bets for a good pester... Good luck with the slim bowie hunt!

The Res-C is really a great material.....I haven't found too many micarta handles that are really comfortable, except for mags and the 1911 pistol grips! I love the Res! Even my pup likes to chew on it!

None that I'm aware of.. I guess you could search up an old Busse picture for the INFI shorty blade design but the bowie is all new and as far as I know unpictured to date... (the guys here would have posted if they'd got anything). It's the bowie next followed by the INFI shorty (Dan said on here somewhere abouts) both should be very good.

I have been in love with Res-C since I got my first Swamp Rat Battle Rat, almost 3 years ago now. Micarta is fine for show pieces. Some of it, such as the Busse snakeskin, is drop dead gorgeous. But for a working knife, give me Res-C anytime!

Tom, it's my instant favorite small knife- I love my CRKT Kasper fixed blade but the SS4 just blows that away effortlessly! The SS4 is just another level of style and ergonomics.

I've been carrying a knife since I was 4. Although, those first couple knives my Dad snapped the blades off for safety, so I dunno if that qualifies as carrying a knife or not. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" /> It was a bladeless knife. I still have that first knife too, and the second bladeless knife. Although I did get my first sheath knife (one of those wood and brass Pakistan boot knives) when I was 7. Here is an idea for what I want next. A shorter RES C handled wakizashi version
of the AK47 in S7. I am more into the martial arts side of knives although I do live in a great place for bushcraft and a wak is an awesome CCW weapon even better than the full length katana indoors. A great name would be AKSU.
