SARSquatch - 09/26/08 03:18 AM

Just arrived tonight, what a beautiful blade, one of the best in my collection so far, really enjoy this one and ready to take her out for a spin. Much sharper than any other Busse I own. Feels great in the hand and has an awesome color. It's also my most expensive Bussekin knive. If you got the money, get one, you will not regret it one bit.

Congrats, Shaolin. All it needs now is a convex edge!

And maybe strip it, but that is not necessary. I just like my INFI raw.

I would love a convexed edge on it, some day hopefully. I'm working at looking at the vids and buying a few things to accomplish that.

Way to go Shaolin! Enjoy that bad boy.

I've got a blk / blk SarsQ and it has really grown on me. Can't wait to take it camping.

To me, the linen micarta handles on the coated blade versions look better than the micarta on the CE. The linen on mine is absolutely gorgeous.

Looking at how nice Vic's stripped SarsQ turned out has me thinking about doing that as well .

As I showed in the first pic, it is not necessary to strip the knife to do the convex edge on this one. In fact, the primary grind on the Sarsquatch is convex. If you can live with some of the paint worn thin above the final grind, it is easy to blend that convex primary grind right down to zero. In any event, the Squatch is one of my absolute favorite knives.

Grade? It was a Combat Grade. It is now more like a CE. Here is a CE along with my stripped and convexed CG. I copied the grind on the CE.

The SarsQuatch was a great choice bro, I'm sure you are going to get many years of happy use !!!!

Re: SARSquatch - 09/26/08 07:12 PM

awesome knife. love mine so much i blatantly copied it, adding a weiler/razor style grip and ignoring the choil for more edge.

also, to horn dog's point, the ranger on the left end was full convex with a terribly obtuse secondary bevel. at first i just thinned and convexed the secondary, but seeing all the Banned blades popping up, i thought i'd give zeroing a shot and it turned out much easier than i expected. also, not the best looking without stripping. sharp, though!

HD,

I was asking about the blade on mine. What does CE stand for? What is the difference between and CE and CG? I cannot see your pics here at work, so if the difference is there, sorry.

Thanks everyone for the comments, I wish I could carry this EDC, but being on a AFB, I cannot, people would freak-out, GO FIGURE, LOL 3-3.5" Fixed is the limit I keep with me (OC). I also carry a 4" Folder in my pocket.

M22,

Pretty close, nice work.

Re: SARSquatch - 09/26/08 07:49 PM

Yours is also a Combat Grade, Shaolin, and a pretty one at that. I like the tan/sage combo. When Jerry Busse first announced the Competition Grade it caused confusion, since "CG" had always been understood as Combat Grade. The "Competition Grade" or "Competition Edition" is the one with the factory full convex edge and no paint, but left unfinished. Now people refer to it as the CE.

is the sarsquatch a little thinner than the chopweiler?

Re: SARSquatch - 09/27/08 12:35 AM

I believe it's thinner.

Re: SARSquatch - 09/27/08 01:09 AM

scrappy,

The handle on the Chopweiler is a little shorter, but the blade on the Chopweiler is longer. The blade width on the SARSquatch is wider though. Also the Chopweiler is thicker, but not by much.
