Leather Art: My New Rainwalker Sheaths!

Leather Art: My New Rainwalker Sheaths! - 10/11/08 08:09 PM

They came in today while I was out back. I am totally blown away this time! Jeff has exceeded even my high expectations this time. Check this out. I asked for two Busse sheaths in the same pattern he did for my DFLE, and a "nice" but nothing fancy machete sheath. Nothing fancy. Right. This thing is awesome!

Check out the palmetto leaves tooled into the leather. My gosh! No way my old Tram beater is worthy of this. So I got a new one I had done a polished convex edge on an put it in the sheath. Perfection. Extreme machete perfection!

With a cool baldric for easy carry and a detachable frog.

And now the Busse sheaths. Notice how Jeff made the sheath fit into the scallped front edge of the handle scales. Just magnificent.
[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]
And a nice little hidden tie down ring on the back.
[Linked Image from i173.photobucket.com]
And see how perfectly the Sarsquatch CE fits its sheath. Man was this worth the wait. Done in the exact color and style of my DFLE sheath.

I feel like a kid on Christmas morning. I hung the machete in the sheath up on my big book case so visitors will see it. It is the best art I have to show!

It is amazing to see Jeff's progression. His current work is absolutely stunning!

I have to congratulate you Vic. I suspect you are the proud owner of the most amazing sheath used for a Tram.

The scalloped part is just plain disgustingly freakish badass.

WOW!!! I'm so envious. You should have a Northwind in that sheath instead of the machete.

I would love one, Ted. Send it to me! As I said, the machete is disposable, the sheath is high art. Because of the terrain here, a machete is just perfect. Why not treat my most used knives well? Of course the one in the picture is not my everyday one. It is insane, I admit. But I have noticed that in Latin America they make these beautiful leather sheaths for their ordinary machetes. Men of all cultures have always adorned and embellished their tools and weapons. It's a man thing.

Vic, I'm sorry, I got a little carried away on the Machete sheath... send it back and I'll make you a more basic one.

Seriously though, a favorite blade should have suitable pants! And that Tram should be ready to Rock!

I'm glad you like it. I made it reversible too, just in case. I didn't know if that would come in handy or not. I look forward to your feedback on the shoulder strap/baldric.

As much as I enjoyed making them, I do have to say that I hope it helps everybody understand that it takes time and patients make good pants, and I'd rather take a little more time and get it right than to rush and regret...

Thanks guys for the complements, makes it all worth while...

Enjoy those Pants, Vic!

Re: Leather Art: My New Rainwalker Sheaths! - 10/12/08 01:12 AM

The machete sheath is awesome, Jeff. Talk about extreme! Anyone who has ever seen the edges on my machetes would understand. I take machetes seriously. All three sheaths fit to perfection. And I love the baldric. No doubt, next time I'm out and about in the swamp, I will be best accesorized man out there. And you know, accessories make the outfit!

Does this mean you'll be wanting matching shoes and pouch too...

Just kidding...

Nothing Fancy! the only way your going to get Jeff to tone it down is to tie his arms behind his back,
super glue his feet to the floor and get him drunk, then only his mind would work overtime on it!

Soooo Amazing guys, congrats and thx for the drool!

Vic, congrats on the set of heirloom art sheaths their beauty is stunning. Wearing them around town shows everyone who sees them how much your steel means to you.
Those are absolutely beautiful. Jeff has knocked a grand slam on that set for you!

Thanks for the compliments, and thanks to Jeff for adding some beauty to my life. Some folks hang paintings on the wall, I hung the machete sheath! His sheaths are special, for my special knives and that includes the lowly machete.
My full convexed Skinny ASH1 and modified SarQ are special to me, too. Now they have special sheaths.

not only are those palmetto leaves done perfectly it really fits you vic due to your location.

palmettos scream south like cactus screams west.

did you ask for them specifically or is this RW using his free artistic reign again?

incredible.

i'd hang that on my wall for all to see also.
