They're handy as hell, because if your wallet is ever stolen, they can't charge your credit card like a normal one; they can only spend what you've put onto the card.

I had my wallet lifted about 12 years ago while at a club, and they were just starting to come out with these. After getting the credit cards cancelled, and getting the illegal charges settled and proven, I applied to get my CC changed to one of these instead. They still work like a normal CC, and they improve your credit rating through using one, but you don't have the worry of having it stolen and someone charging several grand on it and you being stuck with the problem. Sure, you'll lose the couple hundred you've dropped onto it, but it's less of a problem than the other.

I wasn;t the one keeping that thread going, if someone asked a question it got answered that's all. I would hardly call it a tantrum

I don't know if new stuff was said in the thread before it was deleted, but the whole thing didn't seem so serious to me. Somebody thought SB's avatar was offensive, I don't know why, boobs are natural (sometimes <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ) so I didn't see anything wrong with it, but he changed it. Ok, the avatar after that did have some subliminal messages, but I thought it was hilarious. That's not on there now either, end of story. Lets not make a big deal out of something so small.

And don't blame SB only, I fed the flame to. Dogs get a little rowdy when they're hungry and anxious for some food.

I think that thread is where it belongs now.

I have updated the rules list to clarify things for folks. This is and always has been a family oriented forum. We are familiar with other forums like JD & the like which fill a different category. The Yard is different, neither better or worst than the other forums, just different.

Some issues do not revolve around how offensive they are, but what age they are suitable for.
