It's finally OVER!!!!!! - 11/13/08 10:00 AM

My College App!!!

I finally turned it in today for Early Decision!! Now, I can finally get back to the Yard for a bit. Then it sucks because, if I don't get into ED, I have to reapply.

Hopefully I get in.

I applied to Carleton College. Beautiful campus and a nice town. I'm definitely gonna join the CANOE club, which is Carleton's outdoor club.

Carleton's also has a really strong history in Pre-med so I'm hoping to go in that direction.

If I don't get into Carleton through ED, then I still have a bunch of really good back-up colleges.

My parent's have been thinking about applying to Universities but I still feel like sticking to the small liberal art colleges. Though, Emory might be nice. In Atlanta. BLADE SHOW!!!

if pre-med's your thing, go to any school where you can be comfortable and excel. a good GPA is more important to the med schools than the school it came from. it's good that you're goin in with a plan.

i love that knife.

I'd never heard of the Early Decision program; I just looked it up on Wikipedia. I enlisted early in my senior year, so wasn't exposed to college application options.

It was only in my mid-30s, after being fired with the statement, "Your job's not to think, it's to do what you're told!" that I enrolled in Indiana University, eventually graduating with a Computer Science BS and a Business Administration minor. So, while being fired was a traumatic experience (even though I really disliked that job), it turned out to be a significant positive turning point in my life.

I was thinking of actually doing a binding of Med School and College. There are certain colleges that do that and I would be guaranteed Med School after College. Course, my GPA would still have to be good, 3.6 and above probably.

Though, Carleton does have a really good career counseling group and, as I said before, a really high acceptance rate into Med-School.

Yea, I mainly wanted to do ED because I really don't want to go through applying to 110293129301 colleges and answer all the supplements and re-ask my teachers for recommendations.

It's really awesome to hear that you went to University of Indiana. It's a really good national university, tier 1.

Good luck mate.

Havent even thought about college as I'm enlisting, I'm planning on figuring all that college stuff out after I have spent some number of years in.
Of course my dad doesn't want me to join but I feel I can not live in this country without serving it.
