Lived in Vegas for awhile, definitely colder than here(Palm Springs area). Then again, not as hot as our summers of 120+ degrees(140 in postal vehicle).

I drove through Seattle on my way to Vancouver this last thanksgiving and I can see why it's the capital. No offense but those people were a little out there, very few smiles. However, I do love coffee, and theirs was very very good. Go fig.

I hate all these no burn restrictions i have a fire place and plenty of wood and can't even use it to keep warm. Oh well.

It's cold everywhere. Here in northern CA we had 8" snow up on Mt. Hamilton earlier this week and it's only a short 20 minute drive from San Jose. It's gonna be 34F tonight which does not compare to our northern dogs weather but is pretty cool for us.

Re: 60 degrees F, boy it's cold! - 12/20/08 11:35 AM

It's -36 Fahrenheit right now as I post this. I am not to far from high level Alberta.
Last year it had gotten so cold here that my tires froze in the shape that I had parked, for the first few minutes driving to work it was like driving with square tires. It gets as cold as -60F here at times. You southerners don't know what cold is.

YEAH!!!!
You know it's cold when your tires freeze flat like that!!!
Happened to me in Prince George BC one time. Was -50 F overnight and when
I went to drive in the morning, it was like driving on blocks, rotating blocks. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

KN, have you ever had to UNTHAW your vehicle engine with a Tiger torch????
<img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" /> I have <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />
Took almost a full 25lb tank of Propane before the oil was thawed out enough to
allow the engine to start turning over <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbup.gif" alt="" />

I walked 2 miles to high school once in -53F. Got to the school, and it was
closed because the water pipes burst. Had to turn around and walk back home.
When my friend and I got to my place, my mom offered us a hot chocolate. By the time
the HC was ready, my friends nose had thawed and the blood vessels in his nose
burst. Had to take him to the hospital. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

The funny thing is that 2 years ago, my cousin who lives there still, was out
playing golf at Christmas time. The grass was still growing...

Got room for me and the wife????? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I wish that I was exaggerating with those stories, but I'm not.
My best all time winter story dealt with a move.
I was living in Prince George (the -53F place), and was moving to Kamloops (the
town that I live in now). Kamloops is about 300 miles south of Prince George.
The night before I was supposed to move it started to snow. By the morning, it had dropped 3 feet
of snow. Took me 3 hrs to dig out the driveway. About noon, I was able to get
on the highway.
By the time I had travelled 70 miles, I was in whiteout / blizzard conditions.
The only way that I knew where I was, was that I was following a transport truck.
If he would have driven off the road, I would have happily followed.
Conditions cleared up after 50 miles or so, and by the time I got to Kamloops
I was surprised to see that they only had a 1/2 inch of snow on the ground, and it was
so warm that I was walking around in my shirtsleeves.
Phoned my grandmother in Prince George to let her know that I was ok.
It had dropped another 3 feet of snow during the day, so they had a little over 6 feet in one day.

That was the late 70's, though and lots has changed since then.

Cheers.

I put the sportbikes away when it starts snowing, but I definitely remember speeding home at 110mph one day because it was starting to flurry and I needed to put the bike away before I got stranded.

My boss got a KTM 990 Adventure R over the summer. Rode it everywhere.
Insurance ran out in November, but since Friday was a sunny -22C with about
1/2 foot of snow on the ground, he went and re-insured it so that he could

Yep, been in that kind of weather. Was actually in something like that just
south of Red Deer Alberta last APRIL <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />

We finally got through to my son-in-law in Corner Brook. The family is alright,
snug in their house, with enough food stocked away for a couple of months... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
They live out on Benoit's Cove, and he tried to drive into town. Made it to the
first gas station, filled up with gas just in case, then turned around and drove
back home... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You guessed it DotD! My buddy and I went offroading in his truck, had to stop a few times cause we couldn't see 10ft in front of us. Almost got lost too as our tracks in 1.5 ft of snow were completely gone in 20 minutes.

Here's some pictures someone took of the highway last night.

Sure! What they don't know doesn't hurt them.[Linked Image from runemasterstudios.com]

Sorry DotD, the closest I've come to playing is miniature golf. It's not that I haven't been offered to go, it's choosing that over shooting that gets me! Or traveling/hiking/camping, etc. So hard to find time for it. Maybe when I'm 60.

You got it- I knew all those golf courses were good for something. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" /> Maybe we can fish in the ponds <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />
Hahaha, a co-worker of mine almost got fired for doing that!!! He tried hiding in the palm trees [Linked Image from runemasterstudios.com]

NB GSXR, where in New Brunswick are you again? I'm visiting the family just outside of Saint John, in the old Gondola Point area.

I had a blast sliding around the parking lots in my old Sebring Coupe yesterday! I'd find an empty parking lot, race across it at about 80 KM/h, then hit the brakes and do some spins. Gawds, what a blast me and my bud Chris had! Tell you something tho, it gets you used to how your vehicle drifts and slides.... and is fun as heck to boot! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Speaking of driving on the snow...it is sooo much fun!!

I can't stress how much driving on the snow actually improve your driving skills!

We need another snow storm here in New England before the year ends.
