Official JYD Blade

MC just made JYD and hopefully it won't be long before I get there also. Since we have many gifted Dogs I was thinking we could come together as a group and create an official JYD blade. It will require patience and compromise on all parts but I believe it will be a memorable and enjoyable experience if we allow it to be. I am fairly new so if this has been attempted before clue me in. Thanks.

We did talk about this over a year ago and I guess the long and short of it came to why would Scrap Yard design,create,tool,grind,heat treat,finish,and sharpen a knife that less than 50 people could own. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/doh.gif" alt="" />

Now there are a handful more than that and well truth be told Art I am of course in favor,but I know I stand a better chance of getting hit by lightning while a cement truck runs over me and a old lady beats me with a cane and a bullet pierces my..... and ..... and ...and.. all at the same time. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/paperbag.gif" alt="" />

MC, congrats on the new status!!!!!!

Bruce did a special order of Kershaw Junkyard Dog II folders some time ago for the JYDs. Those who ordered got their JYD # engraved on it. I have an ordinary non-numbered one. It's a beefy linerlock with a large blade.

Scrap Yard doesn't do customs; you'll probably have to be satisfied with a coin (although since coin sales weren't limited to JYDs, you won't get your number).

Maybe us JYD's should get together and do something up for ourselves?

That's the JYD way! Contact Bruce (bld522). Maybe he can help arrange another order of engraved Kershaws.

Start work on Dan, and by the time it is ready to go I might be a little closer LOL.

It doesn't necessarily have to be a custom blade, what about a special run of S6's or DFLE's with a special JYD engraving on it with our numbers. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> I bet if the number of interested JYD's were high enough Dan might consider it... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crossfingers.gif" alt="" />

I could go for a JYD DF SE or even better a JYD SOD SE, that would be interesting! LE or black res-C and sage metal would be a good way of marking them out from the rest of the pack..

I like the idea of a JYD <blade to be decided upon> LE SE!

I understand that it may not make sense from a business stand point if it were limited to just JYD's. What I am proposing is that the next model include this as an option for a variant. So...If it happens to be a Khukri, DF re-release, etc. then possibly include a JYD SE option.

At first I meant it like the project that Bruce did since there are quite a few really good knife maker's on this forum. However, if Dan were willing then that would just be awesome!

What honest yard dog could really turn down a special blade?
