I would say that these are a few of my favorite knifes and gear.

In no particular order: Scrapyard Dogfather, Victorinox (Travler?) Camelback Viper, Spyderco Sharpmaker, Leatherman Supertool, Springfield XD Tactical in .45 ACP, Spyderco Endura II, Swamp Rat Howling Rat, Spyderco Ladybug II. The above pic of mine is a DPMS Panther AR-15 in 7.62 w/ a bull barrel, a Colt 1911, and a Glock 26 w/ an A&G Mag Spacer full grip extension. The mighty DF, a custom Ranger RD4, and an Ontario Rat5 in 1905 w/ linen slabs.

Guns and Knives - not all of them, but most! CGFBM on the way, and some other lower end blades are floating around somewhere... Glock model 22 and Yugo SKS are new to the gun pix. Notice the 3 different sized magazines that I have for the Glock 26, depending on how I want to carry it.

Nice Glock 17 BTW - 9mm is a great round, fun and cheap to shoot, more rounds per mag, and will definately put someone down if needed. Not like a .357Sig or .40, but its my choice for CCW.

I am still learning with the whole picture posting thing. Here is my new family.

Here are the knives that I have. As can be seen, I have been a SOG fan, but now that I have the Dog Father, things have changed. A must admit that the Sog Tech II and Sog Vision are both beautiful knives of excellent quality. The Dog Father, however, is by far the most durable and hefty knives that I own. I really like the Res C handle more than kraton, too. I hope you like the pics.

I am not a big Sog fan but I do like their daggers. It is really hard to get a knife that is well made and folows the recomendations for a fighting knife made in the Sykes Fairbain or Applegate books. The Sog is one of the only good choices
and the one you have with the one serrated edge is exellent.

Nice collection dl! Still haven't picked up an Emerson yet..gonna have to do that one of these days.

The Emersons are nice. In fact, I use the tanto one almost daily at work. The SOG Vision that I have is the nicest folder though. I don't know if you can tell, but it is a discontinued version of it that has G10 handles that are flush with the steel liners. It also is a satin finished blade. It's not the bead blasted blade with molded zytel handles that is still available. Anyway, the Dog Father is a little lonely, being the only Scrapyard knife. Quite the knife it is. Here are some closer pictures of the Sog Vision:

If you are going to have other brands than the Busse family Ranger and Fallkniven
(and a lesser extent RAT) are great choices. Before I found my SS4(congrats Cold one) I was going to get a Rat 3 for my fixed EDC. Speaking of EDC that Sage you got is awesome Horn Dog I was admiring Cold Ones to.

Nice RDs. Blue micarta? Blue seems to be the hot grips color. It was orange. Very very nice CO. Enjoy them when they arrive!!!

I love RDs skull crushers. I wish the were not serrated though, they would be more functional for hammering with.

They are a blue/black G10 mix. Sort of like the CGFBM handles. I really like the blue/black combo.

Got a new Kimber Custom today and thought I would share. The blade on top is my new EDC Kershaw. Need to go do some beer can shootin and stabbin!!

But my dad picked up a new Taurus PT 1911 and I am very impressed. It will be put through its paces next weekend and I'll have to give a range report.

A couple of Dave's Kydex sheaths on a SYKCO Dumpster Mutt and a SRKW HRLM.

OK all you hydrant hosers, I need info.

At the beginning of this thread, there are the SYKW blade with a red background. My Q is, Have all of these knives already been made, or are some on the drawing board for the future? I like everything beyond 7" blade length and some of the shorty's. What about a MOJO type of blade? Man I could go broke if these are to be released in the future.

when u log onto the site and u click on the knives button those are all the knives that have been released. Some like the Dumpster Mutt, The scrapper 6 limited edition and INFI Scrapper 4 will no longer be made. They were one time productions. But u could look at the secondary market for these blades and super marked up prices.

Now some of those that are in the red pictures havent been released yet. Only dan and patti know when they will be released. You just have to stick around here and check the forums about once a week for updates. Dan usually lets the yard know by giving a 48 notice and 24 hour notice of when the knives will be released. They sell fast so make sure ur hear atleast half an hour before the release time. Sometimes they go up early.

The Hook Guard (mojo type knive ) just went on sale last week and will prolly be awhile be for it goes up again.

I got caught up typing that i forgot to welcome u to the yard.

I sure do like the size and design of that monster. It makes the Scrapper 6 look cute by its sheer presence.

I've taken the handle off for this shot, there is a concealed, retained big steel nut in the grip.. The black tube in the cut out in the tang centre has a flint match, accurate compass and other useful stuff inside (not the usual Taiwan junk!!)

INFI with the sheathes.. I'm still waiting for Leatherface (or Rainwalker) to get a standard Badger in to make me a proper sheath.. Right now the Badger is in an Ontario SP Navy sheath!

My users.. (Pity the CRKT Kasper has a false edge it spoils it as a whittler!)

A typical knife 'field load' for most of my hikes. Asda folding saw (Walmart) SAK Rucksack, Gerber Legend with assorted saw blades and SS4.

I think I mentioned I like Gerber tools- Legend and Evo 650.

S6 and Busse Basic 7. Right now the S6 is about 10 times sharper than the BB7..

Sorry this is a lousy photo but it shows what the tip looks like on a BB7.. Does anyone out there actually think the asymmetric edge was a good idea?? My S6 is like a scalpel..

hey paul nice blades. I like that Wilkinson Sword survival knife way cool that is a company that has been around for a while too.

I have always liked Wilkinson Sword as well. I just got an unmarked (except for a broad arrow and B2 code) FS dagger that was made by Wilkinson in WW2.
I will take some better photos later today.


I really like Paul's survival knife. I would love for Wilkinsons to make a big comeback. It really is a shame the state England is in regarding knives and personal freedom. It has gotten to be like East germany under the Stasi with everyone spying on each other.

Before the FS dagger the UK issued these rather nice RBD hunting knives from Wilkinson. I wonder if they still make them? If so it is going on my wish list.

I have now either totally ruined my assymetric edge or made it a useful near razor one depending on your view point.. Mine's the latter of course! I have totally reprofiled the dull, off centre curve profile and centred it set at around 50 degrees inclusive angle.. It is now VERY sharp! Not S6 sharp but it is still a work in progress- I intend to sharpen it symmetrical as I go along, over the years! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Just got this little beauty for my Badger from Rainwalker, it looks even better in real life! Got Busse, need leather? PM the Rainwalker!!

Another shot of my Badger pants to show how hardcore heavy duty it is.. It's even Kydex lined for safety..

My new favourite e.d.c in it's new home.. Before the sheath my Badger was a bit of a white elephant, now it's a serious Bushcraft knife that I'm proud to carry. (So that 4.5M of white cord won't stay clean for too long!!)

Here is a pic of my PSK:



At the top is the pouch I carry it in, HD tin foil, water purifying tablets, and a HD plastic bag cut down and marked at 1 liter.

The next row has 12 ft. para cord over top of a AMK heatsheet space blanket, a small first aid kit, and a surefire E2O.

Next row a small plastic pouch which contains a small magnesium fire starter, 25 waterproof matches and 2 strikers, a plastic case (which contains 4 safety pins, 3 HD sewing needles, and two scalpel blades), 4 tinder quick tabs, and a small bobbin of HD nylon thread. Next is a pill container with 10 petroleum soaked cotton balls, a Fox micro 40 whistle, and a small signal mirror on top of its homemade felt pouch.

The whole kit is on top of a camo bandanna that gets folded up and goes in the kit as well. Since the pic has been taken, I replaced the Surefire with a Gerber ultra infinity, and the small mag. bar with a full sized Doan.

Since I finally got off my butt and unpacked my camera it's time to add to this thread.



This is my Oh [email]S@#T[/email] kit. It's a mid-length Armalite M15A4 with EoTech 512 holosite, GG&G flip up Bius, Tritium inserts on both the front and rear, and a Tango down vertical grip. I plan on picking up a Midwest Industries quad rail to replace the front hand guards.

The handgun is my Sig 229 in 9mm running remington Golden Sabres in 124gr +P And it's sitting in a High Speed Gear drop holster. The knife in a Scrapyard S6 in s Spec Ops survival sheath.

The Chest Rig is a SKD Universal chest rig. It'll hold up to8 AR mags, up to 4 pistol mags. I only keep two piston mags in it as the other two pouches keeps a surefire light and multitool. In addition there are alos two small admin pouches There's also two side panels that are MOLLE capable. I threw on a small pouch that holds a compass and signal mirror, and opposite that is a small IFAK/Blowout kit.

The Backpack is a Maxpedition Falcon Two. It doesn't carry much, but it'll carry enough for a couple of days if necessary.





This is my under Zombie uprising kit. It's a Remington 870 shotty complete with Wilson Combat Tra-Lok ghostrings, magazine extension, and big head safety. There's also a 120 lumen Digilite with pressure switch.

In the maxpedition Thermite versipack is about 40 12ga rounds and it's no where near full. The two pockets on the side can accomidate pistol mags or a surefire type flashlight.

The pistol is a HK USPc in .45. The sights are tritium night sights. The Mags are running 185 gr +P Remington Golden Sabres.

Hello Paul,

The white wrap on your knife looks similar to the Irish Linen wrap on my pool cue. On my cue, I hit it with some wax paper from time-to-time. It seems to help keep it clean. With a pool cue, they tend to pick up chalk from one's hands.

There where three request I had.

1)I wanted it to be able to accept the Tek-Klip and Tek-loc's.
2)I wanted to be able to wear it as a kneck knife both upside down and rightside up.
3)I wanted grooves on the side so that I can wrap some kind of small cord around the sheath.

As you can see, he did a great job. The square shape also makes it suited for pocket carry

whats a wave? like what they were talking about on page 5?

On Ernie Emerson's line of folders, he machined in a hook on the top of the blade like you see on the Scrap Yard "Yard Hook" knife. Emerson called this feature the "Wave." Its purpose is to catch on one's pants pocket when withdrawing the knife. Doing so, opens the knife on the draw and is said to be very fast.

Awesome. How do you like the Crash Axe? I just got mine last week and havn't had a chance to try it out yet. I love the black G-10 on these.

I love it truthfully, one of my funnest edged toys. It actually throws fairly well so when your camping and bored of chopping trees down just start fling the axe, my kid absolutely loved it.

I've got one with the brown G-10s, and love it, but find the handle somewhat slick when you start really using it. That's why I cord wrapped the handle and put a D-guard onto it. Now all I gotta do is wait for my leather sheaths from Jeff, and I'll be kitted for some fun times in the woods!

I'm a 5.7 fan too. Unfortunately the only one I have left is the old school IOM.

Yeah, its pretty thick. No redwoods thoughs, its a Busse Game Warden.

How thick is it? I am new to the whole Busse Combat variety of blades. I got a SY Yard Hook, and that is .28 thick. Is your Game warden thicker? It looks it.

I think its the same thickness as the Yard Hook. Polished spines always make the stock look thicker, at least to me.

mostly cutting frawns off of travellers palms, bird of paradise, cutting open pots, cutting twine, removing palm spines, adjusting sprinkler heads, weeding, i usually use it for jobs a serrated sickle might be used for and anything else.

the rust is all surface rust after slicing a palm frawn it scrubs right off!

Thanks, its a really nice knife. Those Busse are expensive and nice, but my favorites are still Scrapyards.

Used my MP to carve this spoon for cooking at our camp spot. It worked really well with it's comfortable handle and choil area for more precise cuts. The thin convex grind I put on it carves great. I brought it home to refine the shape, then sand it and give it some sort of finish.

I ended up getting the 17, it was a hard choice, but the 17 felt better in my hands. I might end up getting a Glock in .45 too, sweet guns.

17 is great too. Really just comes down to preference on the feel of the grip in the 17 and 19. Both are super reliable and will serve you well.

I've never owned a .45 Glock but I do own a G20 10mm. It has the same grip size as the .45 and is a beast.

I have always been a 1911 guy but I was wanting a compact carry piece in .45acp. I tried the compact 1911 before but it just did not work out for me. The other day I had a chance to pick up a Glock 36 and I love it. I even caught myself looking at a Glock 21 SF the other day for a woods carry piece--well that is what I will tell the wife.

I've been eyeing the Glock 30, I think that would make a nice EDC.

And now for something a little different - my new Scrap Muk pictured with my bullwhip and snakewhip.

midtown did you make thoes whips? are they the traditional bull whips like indiana jones and catwoman use, or a little different? are you skilled with one? like able to knock over a single pop can and leave one next to it still standing? what is a common lenght? and other than reach what advantages do different lenghts offer? is it harder to use a longer vs. a shorter whip? is the snake one for snakes and the bull one for bulls? and I just relized I shot about a dozen questions at you, sorry.

haha it's no problem, Mr. Bond. Let me see what I can do to answer your questions.

- I certainly I didn't make them, and really couldn't come anywhere near their level of quality even were I to try for years and years. There are only perhaps in the dozens of people in the world who could. Many master whipcrafters are in Australia, with others in the UK and sprinkled around the rest of the world.

- Indy used a bit of a strange animal with elements of both a bullwhip and a snakewhip. A bullwhip typically would not have a wrist strap, as his did, nor would most bullwhips have such a short handle as the one he used. However, the Indy whip has become so iconic that it's really what most people are talking about when they say "bullwhip". Catwoman? As I recall from the Batman film, if that's what you're talking about, she used a long bullwhip of the Zorro style, definitely more like what is traditionally meant. My bullwhip is similar though not quite so long. I think hers was in the 10-12' length range, and mine is more like 8'. The snakewhip has very different construction. As you can see, it lacks a handle entirely and is flexible end to end. The handle area is instead packed with lead shot to give it some additional mass. Both are made with multiple layers of kangaroo leather, which is the aluminum of leathers - strong for its weight. I try not to abuse them very much but I can certainly testify to the strong and light bit. Abrasion resistance, eh, not so much.

- Skilled. Hmm. Define skilled <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />. There are certainly plenty of folks far more skilled than I, but after about a year of practice I got to the point where I could say I was comfortable throwing them and rarely did as much harm to myself as I did to the target. I'm sure many people will tell you they can reliably hit bottlecaps with a 12' bullwhip, and maybe one or two of them would be telling you the truth. Sort of like pistol marksmanship, if everyone who said they could hit an aspirin tablet thrown into the air could actually do it, there wouldn't be any Taliban left on the planet, that's for sure. Realistically I can say that a soda can is quite easy to hit, a hockey puck would make you concentrate if you wanted to hit it and you wouldn't be too upset with yourself if you missed once or twice, and if you see someone snuffing a candle with a bullwhip, keep in mind that the air whiffing by is what's doing the work and it wasn't actually necessary to get all that close. Bullwhips tend to be more accurate than snakewhips, and shot-loaded snakewhips hit quite a bit harder. Let's just say that whatever you just hit with a shot-loaded snakewhip knows it got hit, and doesn't care so much about exactly where it got hit.

- Common lengths for bullwhips are shorter than what you'd see in the movies - maybe 6-8' with a 10' bullwhip getting into the "that's a long whip" category. Snakewhips are typically shorter, with 5-6' being typical. Other than reach I wouldn't say there are particular benefits to any length, though there are distinct differences in handling and performance between snake- and bullwhips. Bullwhips tend to be much lighter and more accurate, though ironically this accuracy helps to prevent you from hitting anything. Bullwhips, in general, aren't really supposed to make contact. They're more intended to place a big bang with some precision to tell a stock animal "go the other way," because you don't want to hit any hide with one if you intend to sell that (now scarred) hide later on. Don't get me wrong, a bullwhip certainly imparts considerable force and it's no mystery why there were so few lazy pirates. Snakewhips, however, are specifically for hittin' stuff. Not as accurately, but yikes, be glad you aren't a soda can. By way of example, as a matter of fact, just last weekend I had a few very unhappy soda cans flying around the yard. A good solid whack with a snakewhip sends a soda can flying twenty feet, folded rather neatly in half, often cut partially through looking about like it would if you slugged it with a very dull machete.

- easier to throw a long whip than a short whip? Good question, really. I'm not sure I can say either is easier than the other. I learned on a shorter whip before moving to a longer one, so made fewer mistakes with a long whip in part because I already knew more or less what I was doing. Again the difference if any has more to do with the weight of the whip, and people I've taught how to throw whips tend to think of the heavier whip as being more difficult, though I suspect it's really that it's just less forgiving of mistakes. A really bad botch job with a light whip might give you an interesting welt. A really bad botch job with a heavy whip might give you some interesting stitches. If by more difficult one might take the meaning "more likely to result in the need for stitches," then heavier is more difficult <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Mmmm 700 vtr, in .308? Hole in the end looks big. How do you like the ports on the end, I have heard mixed reviews on the the porting, but they like everything else.

Wiggity, the more I see the Bravo the more I warm up to it. you got a nice collection of steel there.

the bravo is a very nice knife. handle is full sized. I took it out last weekend to play with it a bit. It's a pretty hefty knife as well. I really like it. Only downside is the kydex it comes with isn't great, but i'm going to have Rainwalker take care of that.

Sorry just saw this. I love Res-C but in an oil/fat enviroment it is not grippy at all, is way slippery. however the mudder's gemotery allows you keep the kinfe in control with out it squeezing out of your hands or requieing a death grip to hang on it. I don't know if I would want to chop with a oily mudder, but cutting/controled work is just fine.

Ok here is the gear that i will take out with me into the woods for up to a 3 day trip. I have been putting it together for the past year and i have it just about where i want it. most of the time i dont carry the shovel but had it on there because i was making a new campsite for summer a week ago.

The pack i am using is a condor II pack by Maxpedition, it is a great pack with just the right amount of room for my needs.

moving on the the main pocket,
i keep a dualist cookset from GSI for cooking and i carry the dualist instead of the singlist because ussaly i have a friend or my brother with me. then i have a kershaw folding saw which is light weight and dose a great job at cutting, i have 100 feet of para cord because you never know when you will need it. i also carry one extra 32 oz. and 16 oz. nalgean water bottle if i am going on a shorter trip i only bring the one that i have on the side of my pack, i aso keep tolite paper in the zippered pocket in the back for quick access. and above all of that i have 2 zippered maxpedition bags in the botttom one has fire staring supplies and the other has other little things like spare battiers, candy, figure 9s and other little things, then i also have a first aid kit from an army surplus store.

in the fron of the pack i have a fenix PD30 which is a great light and i have a diffuser tip in the pouch of the main pocket that allows it to act as a lanturn, i also have a benchmade rescue hook, there if really no reason for having this except for cutting string and emergancy but u have room and it doesnt weigh anything.
