Firefox Problem Help! - Can't reply to posts - 07/02/09 12:13 AM
I just switched to using Firefox instead of Netscape, and I tried to reply to a post here & it said:
We cannot proceed.
The host you are trying to send the input from is not a valid host.
Please use your back button to return to the previous page.
Anyone know how to fix this?

Very strange, did you try logging out and back in using firefox?
Firefox is all I ever use here without an issue.
It is a forum error or a server error? (Is it surrounded by the normal Scrap Yard layout)

Try these:
In firefox, go to Tools and try clearing your Private Data, such as Cache and Cookies.
Right click on a mozilla firefox icon on your desktop, and try running as Administrator.
Are you running Windows XP? If so, you might have Service Pack 3 (SP3), it's been having a lot of issues with 3rd party software. You can uninstall it from Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs.

Forum error, with the Scrap Yard layout. I just upgraded to the 3.5 version of firefox. I was holding on to Netscape, but I got tired of it locking up on me. Right now though, the only way I can post is if I use Netscape instead. I tried logging out and back in, and it still did it.

Mine did that for a few days but it turned out to be a cookie issue showing as a forum issue.

Again I tried emptying the cache & cookies. I even tried rebooting. It's still doing it. Here's what it looks like when I try:
I had TOR installed (but not enabled) & thought maybe that was doing it, but I uninstalled it before rebooting, and it didn't help.

*sigh* I should have just Googled it first. The problem was Zone Alarm removing private header information. Fixed now.

Cool. I am glad you got it fixed. I was going to say that I use FF and XP with SP 3 without any issues so it was most likely a configuration issue.

Try this:
Open a new tab
Browse to about:config
search for "sendReferer" without the quotes
Let me know what your sendRefererHeader is set to.

Re: Firefox Problem Help! - Can't reply to posts - 07/02/09 06:22 AM
I believe if it is set to 0 it won't work.

Actually, I know for a fact it won't work having just tested it. A setting of 1 or 2 will cure your problem.

I'm not to keen on Vista or any Microsoft product for that matter. I just don't know enough about computers to find anything better.

It sounds like a cookie problem.
Try clearing your cookies (if you do though you may lose logins and some settings for other sites as well as this one).
I have not upgraded to the new version yet, but on the version I have there is a "Tools" menu. with a "Clear Private Data..." menu item.
If you can find something like that try clearing the cookies, saved passwords and authenticated sessions if you can find them.

This is a test post. Please ignore it.
[edit] I thought I'd try 3.5 to see if I had any problems but it is working for me, so I can't realluy throw any light on your problems posting.
