I have an idea for Dan that will be beneficial for everyone, including Scrap Yard Knives.

Beginning with the S5LE, have an after close of sale option feature. Only have this option feature randomly. Not on every offering, but only on very rare occasions. What this will do will make the ones who would not otherwise buy a particular knife have second thoughts about passing up the opportunity. I know in my case, if I thought options that were never disclosed until after it was too late to get the knife would be offered after the close of sale I would really think hard about waiting for the next one. The key here is to make this a VERY special thing, only done in rare instances.

Dan, I would like to change my S5LE order from the black handle to the new "Dog House Special" orange handle...

...that would ruin the whole idea behind a limited edition blade would it not?

maybe on the CG blades but def. not on LE's....

I was browsing this forum and I did my part to expedite the S5LE. I placed an order for one...I wish I could afford two...or three. I need no warnings regarding knife addiction. I am already a junky. However, this is my first scrap yard!

I have a feeling all the leftovers will be sold at trade shows. I doubt they'd be ready in time for Blade West, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some of these turn up at the shows next year.

if crime was'nt so high in my area (miami, fl)id most definitely keep my CG in the car...but it is and i found out someone broke into my car and took my S5 i think i would go into baby punching mode...id be SO FURIOUS

Thanks to all for the welcome! I have been eyeballing SY knives for a while with curiousity. I thought the S5 looked like a good place to start. Plus, my timing was perfect with the ordering and the end of the offer. My anxious wait won't have to be too long. I do plan on putting the knife to the hardest (reasonable) use that I possibly can to see what the INFI hype is all about. I like what I have read and can't wait to use/test it! My son has joined the Marines and I'll be looking to pick him up a knife, so Dad can definitely justify test driving one for himself.

Welcome to the Yard 2tonyb - you picked a heck of a knife for your first SY blade. I really like my S5CG, and expect it'll be even sweeter in INFI.

Pardon my ignorance, but "S5CG"...what does the CG mean?

CG is Combat Grade - the version of the Scrapper 5 released before the current (Limited) edition.

Combat Grade knives are usually coated blades. Limited Editions are usually satin finished and numbered. In this case, the CG version was made out of SR-101 steel, and the LE from INFI, so that's another difference.


The S5CG was offered in a variety of blade and handle combos, in a sort of built-to-order run.

I knew the LE with the INFI was unique. Is the CG the "standard" scrapper or is there another one yet? I have been patiently trying to obtain an S5 through an auction site, but the last one went for nearly the LE price. They are kinda hard to catch on the BF for sale section...they go too fast!

I have been lurking for quite some time and I usually spend most of my time over in the outdoor/fieldcraft side of the forum. I have been enjoying the pictures that some of the members take here, um, Andy Wayne's shots come to mind.

Its funny, I have been quite interested in Bussekin for some time now. In particular, I was very interested in the knives with INFI, Busse mostly, so when SY offered the S5LE I just had to have it! I will need some good pants for it though. I must say, its not a bad start, the S5LE that is. I Can't wait to see what arises next.
