Yep, seems people like the ability to sell knives w/o having to pay fees to do it.

To prevent any confusion, the Busse families have no affiliation whatsoever with that site. I created it after Dan said we couldn't sell here. The idea was to be able to trade among ourselves, rather than having to use eBay or BF and pay fees. BF seems to go down a lot. If you don't pay fees to sell, you have more money for knives!

I joined about a week ago. I am still trying to figure out how it works. I'm not sure I got conformation, but I am getting a bunch of emails about Busse knives for sale. I can't seem to get to anywhere that has pictures of the knives though?

Desperately seeking pictures,

Mick

It doesn't show pics in the posts. Some people post a link to the pics, or you can email them and ask them to send you pics if they have them.

Do not thank me. It was Andy and fellow Dogs that came up with this since I do not permit selling on the ScrapYard Forum. There is also no sponsorship from any Bussekin company... so it is Dog on Dog so to speak

Re: Busse-kin knife sale forum ? - 10/25/09 05:08 AM

Ok…I had something I wanted to run by you guys. When I created the Busse Kin Exchange on Yahoo, I did so because it was the only option I knew of that I could create a forum type place to sell things. However, I’ve heard from a lot of people more familiar with forums than Yahoo groups who said they didn’t like the format, that it was hard to find things, and figure out how to post pics, etc. At the time, it was the only option and the best I could do.

However, recently I found that Geocities was shutting down, and found I needed to find a new server. I found one, and registered a custom domain. One of the things included with this server is forum software. It is more like a “standard forum” than Yahoo is, and I wondered what you guys think of moving the Busse Kin Exchange to the new forum I created rather than the Yahoo group? Since a lot of people didn’t like the Yahoo group layout, I thought you guys might prefer this. Or, I thought maybe you wouldn’t want to hassle with setting up a new account? I thought I’d ask your thoughts.

One of the good things is, with my account I have unlimited traffic and file space, so I made it so you can have unlimited PMs (no more full PM boxes to empty). You can also attach pics to your post if you don’t have a photobucket account, or insert pics right into the posts like you do here. I’m still learning the forum software, but I put up a couple forums for selling and chatting. If you want, you guys can check it out and let me know what you think. Here’s the link:

http://naylorinternational.com/forum/

So…what do you guys think about the Busse Kin Exchange?

Which do you like better? New forum or Yahoo group?

Re: Busse-kin knife sale forum ? - 10/25/09 05:36 AM

The yahoo group is kind of a pain to move around. Go for it Andy .

that new site is awesome!
maybe it can be stickied for the future? maybe like an "unofficial" bussekin exchange area.

Re: Busse-kin knife sale forum ? - 10/25/09 06:24 AM

Andy, I love the new forum a lot more than the yahoo deal. I think that it will be a major hit for the knife guys!

Re: Busse-kin knife sale forum ? - 10/25/09 06:33 AM

Old things get lost and forgotten very easily in the yahoo groups the forum would make that easier. I am willing to give it a try.

In fact I am already registered

So far everyone likes the new one. You can go ahead and join and post there if you want. I already made it. You can repost any ads you listed elsewhere if you like.

Andy could set up a thread section where we can just post feedback on individuals ourselves after the transaction has been completed.

not sure if any of you have been to snipercentral.com but they have that system and its worked pretty well.

its not an officially recorded system but its one way to see how things have gone with past transactions.

You guys can start posting there if you want. So far, 96% like the new page better. Only 10 have joined so far. More people voted than joined. So, if you voted you like it better, but haven't joined, go ahead and join and feel free to use it, and spread the word to others as a place to sell items for free.

Hi Andy.
New site looks great!
But.....

There are many website based forums already.
I joined the mailing list because of its
"back room" feel. Guys would post something for sale
and we would hope to see some great deals via those emails.
It happened too....
Anyway, although the new site is much easier to navigate and operate,
I still like the "old school" mailing list version as well.

I will join the new site,(right now actually)
but hope the old mailing list doesnt go by the wayside.

Thanks for all your hard work.

I haven't tested it yet, but I saw there's an option at the bottom left to subscribe to a forum. I believe it will email you when something is posted so you get the same effect. You can subscribe to a whole forum, or a single post. The option is at the bottom left after you click on a forum.

Re: Busse-kin knife sale forum ? - 10/27/09 02:27 AM

I was going to suggest something like a freewebs forum or simmilar board instead of the Yahoo group. It's a much better layout that most folks will recognize.
I joined.
Thanks bunches for changing it. Yahoo can be a pain in the @$$.
