Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 06:46 AM

So I just recently saw Zombieland and I wanted to see an update on our kits. I posted this pic in death chat but I would love to see some of your pics, although I know I've seen some outstanding posts on this subject already.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 07:21 AM

I almost sharpened the edges, but I accidentally kicked it and cut my toe something fierce. I hate to think what would have happened if it was sharp. I do love throwing it though.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 07:30 AM

i sharpened one edge.

tell me about your bow.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 07:34 AM

Simple 60" 30# Martin fiberglass recurve. I ordered a custom string. More for fun than anything else. The Horton Steelforce crossbow is dangerous though. 150#'s makes a huge difference.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 07:45 AM

i have a viper deluxe, 55# longbow. there's some slight reflex/deflex in the limbs. i've only gone shooting with it a few times, but the guy who introduced me to this says i'm a natural and i should practice. i'm wasting it.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/11/09 07:54 AM

That's a nice bow. I would use mine more often but a recent MRI says I'll have to wait until after some physical therapy. That's why I went with the AR. No kick and great accuracy. Not to mention fun.

diggin the AR. i'd like one someday.

You clearly don't live in the southeast, Tom - banjos evoke lots of emotions in me when I'm in the woods of North Georgia or Alabama.

"happy" isn't one of them

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/15/09 08:38 PM

Yep the ax is Paul Chen it one of my favorites. I have actually used it to shop out a tree stump in our yard. Here is my wife and mines Christmas card from a couple of years ago to prove it. I am at lunch at work so the only one I could find was the one I sent out to the folk here. It is spelled wrong :-) (I am a graphic designer at a sign shop and thought it would be funny)

Also I am not sure about what series the tiger shark is but it has a leather sheath and is AUS 6 not AUS 8. I believe it is 8? years old. I love the knifes looks but havent been able to chop or do anything with it because I promised my wife I would frame it for her. Just have not got to it yet. It is Jonh Locke”s knife from the TV show “lost” (her Favorite show) [Linked Image from i90.photobucket.com]

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/27/09 02:50 AM

Ha. I am actually building a encased Zombie survival kit. Thats what the airsoft replicas are for. And I was thinking about an awesome machete heavy duty machete. So I was watching one of the new Friday the thirteenth movies and saw that was one heavy duty machete. So I looked on ebay if I could find a replica and there one was. the funny thing is I don't know what kind of steel it is but it is heavy as hell. I did some work on it to get it closer to what I had envisioned and to tell you the truth it looked better all nasty. I will see if I can find a mockup of my Zombie kit Idea

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/27/09 03:24 AM

I'm fairly certain that the guy who made that particular blade in your bottom pic was called "Mega" and ran an online horror movie prop reproduction site called East Coast Studio 1 up until early 2007.
They were generally produced from a hard aluminum alloy (custom versions were made from spring steel) and were meant to replicate the oversized machetes used in the movie "Freddy Vs. Jason".
They originally sold for $160.00.
There were several prop makers producing them at the time, some better than others but that looks exactly like one from ECS1, which were considered worldwide to be the most accurate to the film used blades.

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 10/27/09 03:57 AM

I saw some of the failures of the SRK and thought I needed something that would not fail me in the backwoods. Thats how I came across the Bussekin knives from knifetest.com and nos. I knew I had to have one when I actually saw the hard proof that everyone who make knives claim to have.

But I have to say my SRK has not broke (no tough use) But peace of mind is always better to have.

then again, it provides you with the "honest judge, he tripped and impaled himself." defense.

So I just recently saw Zombieland and I wanted to see an update on our kits. I posted this pic in death chat but I would love to see some of your pics, although I know I've seen some outstanding posts on this subject already.

So look what I found lurking in the backyard this afternoon

It must be the season and they are out early

Be very aware of your surroundings

and be ready.

Just so you know candy did not work no matter what they say this hallow season but an attitude adjustment from Father Dog goes a long way

well at some point zombies may make some sort of intellegence leap and learn to use tools. first steps toward a truely civilized zombie society.

If Orcs can learn to use khukris then zombies may also be able to learn to use weapons.

Talking about Zombies, The 2nd Hanable Lecter movie (where clariese was NOT Jody Foster). It's the one where he ate part of the guys brain. Wonder if he would qualify as Dr. Zombie???

Re: Zombieland prep kits - 11/01/09 11:53 PM

Last night on AMC it was the classic, Night of the Living Dead. Today, I had to go out and get some potatoes and cabbage to go with my pork roast. I forgot about the change in time. I thought it was after 1 pm, so the church crowd would be cleared out. WRONG! Day of the Driving Dead. Filled with the weekly blessings, admonitions, and guilt, the drivers were trance-like zombies going 20 mph. Good lord, I should have gone last night when all the drunks were celebrating Halloween and the GA-FL game. It would have been safer.

You mention putting this behind glass, I'm presuming in a display case or frame on the wall but how about this for an idea. Working it into a coffee table top?

That would be some talking piece for sure.

You sir are a genius.
That would make the sweetest coffee table.
Great job on the layout, btw.
I think it is the perfect size for an emergency outbreak.
