Tell me about it. I almost fell over when I saw the price. I thought it would be at least $20-30 higher than what it was.

The RC-3 is also thinner than every other Bussekin knife I own, except the Bird Dog LE, meaning it's a better slicer than all of them. I think it will make a very nice compact blade for bushcraft and firemaking. Can't wait to get it out in the woods and put it head-to-head with a few other small EDC size blades I've obtained recently - the Active Duty, Meaner Street, and BOSS Street.

Some of these would make nice comparisons....

Not patina, just sap residue. It wipes off pretty easily, but I don't really bother.

Oh, and I am also really, really happy that I got in on the RAT pack knife. I was in from the very beginnings of it, and it turned out SWEET.

It's a pretty good forum. There are more than a few dogs over there. I was with the old Ontario RAT forum long before I ever heard of Busse or Scrap Yard. I see quite a few Hogs over there, too. Not a bad looking Rat. I might have to give one a try someday, but not until I can find one on the cheap. What steel is it made out of?

Right now, all RC blades are 1095.

There is a machete coming in 1075, and rumors of stainless versions of some knives in 440c.

Also a mention of the upcoming folder possibly being in D2...

Hmm, the 1075 machete sounds real interesting. 440c, Benchmade for me.

Man they are cheap from the get-go, ~$100, including a sheath. Of course you can't get those exact colors (only 200 of that variant made).

Well, you can get orange scales and an OD blade instead, pretty close. The tan/tan is sweet too.

True - forgot about the OD version. Still, if you want orange on black, you have to buy two knives and swap slabs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

I had no idea the Regulators were that stout. I thought the Tank Buster was a thick blade, but the Regulator might be a bit thicker ?

i like a slightly rounded spine.

The tank buster was 1/4 of an inch thick. The Regulator is 1/3 of an inch. So yeah, thicker than the buster.

geez a Regulator is basically a sharpened pry bar. I'll take two please

the full flat grind is pleasingly acute though

The Regulator blade looks like the cutting edge is longer then the SOD -- can you verify this?

Maybe measure each cutting edge with a piece of string then lay the string flat on a ruler?

S/W - the cutting edge on my Tan SOD is 6", while on my T/T Regulator the c/e is 6 3/4". <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Between the extra 3/4" cutting edge, near same weight, and option to get one with the top guard chopped off I reckon I've GOT to get myself one of these!
